Arrival Story:
We saw an ad online for an Abyssinian-Bengal mix cat and went to investigate. That cat was beautiful and perfect and self-possessed and licked her paw daintily while we admired her. Then the shelter owner suggested we take a look around at the other cats as long as we were there, and we saw the stubbiest, roundest little gray striped cat ever. We opened her cage and every time our hands came near her she flopped on her side, rolled vigorously, and emitted a cooing, pigeon-esque purr. She was clearly totally broken and weird and a little dirty, so we took her home, and now we love her forever and forever.

A Bowl of One's Own


Still I hunger!

Sometimes I knock my empty bowl off of the mat so I can sit and wait where the bowl used to be. One day they will forget to put it back, and they will pour the kibble directly into my mouth. It will be the best day in the world! When it happens. Someday!

There is no kibble. There has never been kibble. This bowl has always been empty. I hunger!

I am reduced to licking the empty bowl. It tastes of kibble, though it has never contained kibble. I hunger!

They have never fed me. I fear they will never feed me. I hunger!

There is no kibble. They have not fed me today, certainly not twice already today. No, never. I hunger!

They feed my sister all the time. She doesn't even want it. I am wasting away. I hunger!

The bowl is empty; they will never fill it! O kibble! I hunger!

I shall have to howl:
