Why does my cat love to lay or sit on cardboard
We have a play pad with a corrugated cardboard center. She will lay on it play on it and when we play she need to have a paw on it.
We got a cardboard sleeve in the mail and she loves it. The play pad is her safety spot.

Some of those corrugated scratchy pads are infused with catnip--maybe your's is also. It could also just have a smell or a feel to it that she really likes. Cardboard also retains body warmth and she may like that as well.

Some cats like different things. Izzie gives some good reasons. Cats also get attached to some strange things they like. She will probally outgrow the need to have this as a safety spot someday.
