why does my cat carry around a stuffed animal?

my cat has a stuffed tiger that he holds in his mouth and parades back and forth past our bed at night. After the fifth or sixth pass, he deposits the stuffed tiger in a corner in the bathroom. he does this almost every night. what does this mean?

If your kitty was female, I'd wonder about a false pregnancy, but in the case of a male, I think it's probably their predatory instinct. If he's an indoor cat, he has no chance to stalk and catch "real" prey, so he's substituting the tiger. He's proud of his "conquest" so he shows it to you and then like most cats who catch real prey, he just leaves it for you once you've seen it. It's all about the predatory instincts that all cats have. It probably wouldn't hurt to praise him when he shows you the tiger at night. You are the alpha people in his life and he's showing you what a good kitty he's being!

I agree with Izzie. My roomates cat used to Meow incecently by her toy mousie after playing with it. we thought she had hut hertself or something but figured out shes jsut calling us to see what a good girl she is and she killed a "mouse" so we'd give her some praise and love and hide the mouse somewher else. se LOVED it and would purr like crazy and when got praised.
