You have great ideas for names already. If you didn't, I'd advise you to take a stroll through Catster. Oh, my, the various names!!! I myself am very bad at naming cats, even my pedigreed Maine Coons that I was allowed to name myself. I had, in succession, three cats named Kitty. My brother currently has a cat named Mr. Kitty. We tend to go generic here. My opinion is that the cat eventually chooses its own name. Princess became Pookie, etc. Generally speaking, whatever your cat's name is, you're likely to end up calling him something with two syllables (Edison will become Eddie, etc.). Cats seem to prefer this. So all my present cats have two syllable names, and Leila, who is the most standoffish, will answer to whichever name is called. Now that I think of it, almost all of my cats had their names changed at some point in their life. Take the other posters' advice, make your own decision, and be prepared for a possible change.

How about naming him "Jules Ambrose Edison" which is quite regal sounding (and we all know that all cats are royalty) but calling him JAE (Jay)

I personally like Edison. From his pictures, he strikes me as a an Edison. He's beautiful no matter what you call him!

The best way to name your cat is to get to know him a little first. If your cat is a macho male, large in size and attitude, you don't want to give him a "girly-man" type name. If he's a lover, lapsitter and couch potato, you don't want to give him a tough guy name.. There are lots of internet sites with cat names. Chances are, like my cats, he'll eventually have nicknames or things you affectionately call him.
