What should I do concerning flease?

I have tried just about EVERYTHING! Flea powder, flea spray, that flea pippet that you put between the shoulder blades, you name it! Yet the fleas are still there :( my cat looks so unhappy and he keeps scratching, licking and pulling at his fur. I so badly want to help him!

Can I take him to a cat spa for a flea dip? Or should I rather do it myself? If so, how (let me ad, he is very agressive when it comes to water)?

Thanks for reading and/or answering!

Are you totally sure that this is fleas? Do you see the fleas on your cat? Perhaps your cat has a skin allergy. I'd certainly suggest taking the cat to the vet to be sure of what is going on here. If the cat does have or has had fleas, then there's a really good chance that he has tapeworms too. Cats get tapeworms by eating fleas. Tapeworms look like small grains of white rice. They can sometimes be seen on a cat's behind & in the cat's feces. You can get a tapeworm shot at the vet. Try vaccuming your house to help get rid of fleas. Look up ways to rid your house of fleas online that are safe for your pets & ask the vet also. I still do think that a vet visit would be a really good idea. Good luck!

If you are SURE it is fleas (and not allergies or some other problem) you will have to treat the fleas more aggressively. Talk to your vet about Revolution or Frontline. You may also have to invest in some products or "flea bombs" for the house and treat the yard as well - I see Kwazimoto is allowed outdoors. As the other posted stated, I would have a fecal sample checked for parasites as fleas can spread tapeworms (which can spread to humans). See your vet, make sure it is fleas, and your vet will help you treat the fleas (or give you a different diagnosis). Over the counter products are usually not very effective compared to what your vet can give you.

I highly recommend Revolution. It kills a variety of parasites and also protects agains heartworm. However, you really need to treat your house in addition to killing the fleas that are on the cat. If it really is fleas that are bothering him, are you being bitten? My cats do not go out so I did not believe that could be what was happening. I even insisted on the vet testing Blaze for ringworm because of the lesions the fleas were causing. She had sores all along her spine. The cats all did but hers were the worst so she was the one who went to the vet. I never saw a flea but then I began to be eaten alive myself while I was sleeping. I started using the Revolution on them and I used flea bombs in the house and we have not had a problem since. It's kind of a pain because you have to take the pets and everybody out of the house for several hours but it solved my problem when combined with treating the cats. But please be careful about using multiple products on him. That can be toxic.

Everyone offers good advice! Take your cat to the vet to determine if he has fleas. FrontLine, Advantage and Revolution are all excellent flea remedies. It sounds like you are overdoing it and that is why everyone is thinking your cat may have dermatitis. If it is fleas, you have to treat the environment (bomb your house), wash all of your cat's bedding, and keep your kitty out of the house for the recommended amount of time. A trip to the vet will give you an accurate diagnosis. Best of luck!

Everyone does give good advice. I'd just like to add, as guest said, that you must treat your home (and other animals) as well IF it is, in fact, a flea infestation. When you vacuum, throw the bag out. The act of vacuuming only takes the fleas for the thrill ride of their lives and doesn't kill them. You can also suck up some flea powder into the bag, but just to be sure I'd throw the bag outside. Upholstered furniture must be vacuumed as well. Contact your vet and purchase a can of "flea bomb" or spray. Remove your animals from your house or from the main rooms and set the bomb up (your vet can tell you how to use it or follow the directions on the can). Baths don't help--they are a temporary fix. The fleas that are in your home will just hitch a ride on your cat (or on you) as soon as they come into contact with Kawzi or you. You should also have Kwazi tested for worms (take a stool sample to your vet) as fleas and worms go "hand in hand".

The Cap Star gets rid of fleas within 30 minutes. You can buy this at feed stores I've seen for $6.99 US. Vets charge around $18.00 US. After that, you should give kitty a dose of Revolution like the others suggested and haul Kwazimoto in for a dewormer treatment because where there are fleas there are most likely poopies worms because of the way cats compulsively groom bugs. To check your house for fleas, just set out some shallow dishes full of dish soap and water underneath light sources like lamps. The fleas, naturally attracted to light, will try to get there and land in the water and drown. I've had fleas in my house. It's ugh.
