I am sorry to hear that your cat died from a tumor. My cat died from a tumor when she was 11-1/2 years old. Just like people, cats too can get cancer. It is hard to say how long a cat will live. Indoor cats can live to be 15, even up to 20 years old. Outdoor cats don't live as long because they are exposed to dangers (accidents, poisoning, fights, etc.). So, with that said, please keep your other cat (Joy) indoors and hopefully you will enjoy her for many years to come.

Average life expectancy for a well cared for, indoor cat is 12-15 years or more.
Cats allowed outdoors average only a 3-5 year life expectancy.
As the other poster said, you can never tell when cancer or health issues may strike. Two years ago, one of my best friends had to put her cat to sleep - at 19 and 1/2 years old. A month later, I had to put my cat Mr. Fez to sleep due to complications of a urinary blockage... he was only 4.
Keep kitty indoors, see your vet at least once a year for an annual health exam and vaccines, feed the best food you can afford, don't let kitty become overweight, and lots of love and attention will help kitty stay healthy and live as long as possible.
