What fruits are ok for me to eat?
I LOVE fruit! Any fruit! Apples, oranges, banannas, pineapple, cherries, starfruit, you name it i'll eat it! My Mum says some fruits are very bad for me and takes them away. I'm curious, which fruits can I safely eat?

Grapes and raisins are toxic for cats, so stay away from those. I've also heard some berries are toxic, so avoid those too.
Anything acidic, like citrus, can change kitty's pH, which may cause urinary problems. Cats are carnivores, and their systems are not meant to break down the fiber or the citric acid, so be careful.
A bite or so of some fruits and veggies surely won't hurt your kitty, but being carnivores it's not like they're getting any special nutrition from them.
I've heard melon, bananas and apples (no seeds!) are the safest bet, but you may want to ask your vet just in case.

Fruits might be tasty for your cat, but aren't really good for the digestive system. Cats are carnivores and lack the digestive enzymes to break fruit down so it bascially sits in the tummy and rots. Your cat can suffer from vomiting, diarrhea and gas. I would cut the fruit out all together.

I want to try everything my Mommy eats! I can hear a spoon in a bowl of ice cream or the crackle of a box of Wheat Thins from 3 rooms away and I come running to stick my head in there and see if there's any for me. But Mommy says NO. If I turn on the charm and she feels bad enough, I get some kitty treats. But human food is not really good for us so it's best if Mommy just says no. You will get used to not having any. If she does let you have some, it's just starting a bad habit. Once you are bigger and maybe learn to jump on counters or tables, you may start stealing things that really could be harmful. Tell Mommy to keep the treats handy and offer you one of those instead of sharing her fruit.

If your cat is on a quality cat food he really doesn't have to eat any fruits or vegetables to remain healthy. The kinds of fruits and veggies that humans enjoy are not good for a cat's digestive system. Dry cat food is good to keep available at all times, but canned food is said to be better for cats' health. If he wants a little variety and you have a sunny spot in or outdoors, plant a little "catgrass" for him. Seeds are available online. The best I've found is www.citycatsbiz.com. My cats LOVE all their grass varieities and they're fun to grow!
