You don't give many details. Is this YOUR cat? Or did you visit him in a shelter? Cats (and dogs)shed their winter coats at this time, although animals shed all year long. If he is showing patches of skin he's shedding so much, he could have a food allergy, be stressed out or have some other health concerns. He could be shedding also simply because he hasn't been regularly brushed. If he is your cat and you are concerned and think he's shedding too much, he needs to go to his vet to be checked out for health issues. Brush him well to get rid of the loose fur and if he continues to shed a lot, then the only person who can answer your questions is a vet. Good luck.
