Hi! My "Angel" is a mackarel tabby. She is grey with a white chest and paws and her tail has striped rings on it. The striped rings on the tail are characteristic of the mackarel tabby. Tabby cats can come in an assortment of colors - grey, orange, brown, etc. There are also tabby tortoiseshell cats called "torbies". If you research "tabby cats", I am sure you will find that there are several types of tabbies with many different colors. I cannot really tell what your "Honey" is. She may be a mackarel tabby. Maybe you will get some answers from other posters who know more about tabby cats. She certainly is beautiful!

Did you get Honey from a breeder? The breeder should be able to tell you. I'm not a Persian owner, and I hope our resident Persian expert will give her expert opinion. To me, Honey (sweet name, sweet girl) looks like a brown classic tabby. I'm only speaking from experience as a Maine Coon person, but brown tabbies can have patches of buff or orangish fur that don't count as "red," and which can be found on both female and male cats. A bit of white on the chin is allowed--if there were a white bib, tummy, and feet, she would be "and white." With Maine Coons, at least, mackerel tabbies have more pronounced stripes on the sides. Classic tabbies should have whirls, but sometimes the whirls are just rather random bands of color, as with my Lowell. Persian color classes baffle me, but Honey's coloration seems pretty straightforward. Enjoy!
