Spraying of feces from a cat?

Well when my female cat feels threatened she sprays this nasty, feces that looks likes cat liter. i was wondering if this is normal and is there was anyway to get rid of this because it smells up the whole house when she does it. We have two cats and they have certain times they eat because one is on a diet. They were in the kitchen with me and i nudged her with my foot and i here a spraying sound and she did it on me and i was about to throw up and had to take a shower. I really dislike this. please help.
