Scruffy

Spayed female acting like momma to kittens

Snows kittens are 3wks old today(yeah happy birthday!) Today I noticed scruffy wrestling with the kittens. I thought she was trying to eat them at first but after I watched for awhile she would lick them and snuggle with them. So neat to watch. Anyway the kittens are where snow can see them if she leaves the room and she just watched. The kittens would walk over to scruffy and when she was was done they would walk back. Scruffy was fixed in June and we choose to abort the kittens because she just wasn't ready. Is this ok if Snow thinks it okay. Also since the babies have arrived scruffy has been kinda skidish. Does this have something to do with the kittens.

That's really sweet and since Snow thinks its OK its not going to cause any problems.

Some cats are very maternal even though they're spayed and it sounds like Scruffy is enjoying being an "Aunt".

Well it sounds like that they are all getting along so you should keep them together or just separate Scruffy from the kittens and Snow. Other wise they sound fine to me. My cat is the same way we found a lost cat and she mothered it and when it left she was just fine. California is the one that did this.

I agree with the other posters, but I would keep an eye on Snow just in case she changes her mind about letting Scruffy be an "aunt". My daughter's Cleo was aborted and spayed and she was always very maternal to any kitten my daughter adopted. It's almost like the natural progression of things was interrupted by their spay, and they are just finishing what was started before they were aborted.
