Sneezing, but no other URI symptoms?

Just got a new 3 yr old male cat from the animal shelter, and he's passed all the herpes and fiv tests. He is sneezing quite a bit, but no other URI symptoms. Good appetite, no nasal discharge, no watery eyes, normal bowel and urine functions, active, normal breathing (not labored). I don't want to give him antibiotics unless last resort. Any ideas, thank you!

When a cat has a URI, there are much of the same symptoms as a human cold. Runny nose, sneezing, wheezing, lethargy, loss of appetite, etc. Allergy symptoms are much the same for cats as humans as well. Watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, wheezing and itching. The symptoms of a URI can get worse quickly. If you don't already have a vet on board, I'd suggest finding one asap. Upper respiratory infections are common in shelters and rescues and they can be exacerbated by stress, such as stress from an adoption. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't be treated. When you mention giving him antibiotics, please remember this treatment should only be prescribed by a vet who can test and examine your kitty. Keep an eye on him, find a vet you like, and if his symptoms get worse, call the vet as soon as you can.
