Need advice on surgery for a senior cat

I have just been diagnosed with a large tumour on my liver. It appears to be on 1 lobe and has not spread yet so the vet thinks I am a good candidate for surgery.

I did very well under anesthesia when I had dental surgery 9 months ago and all my blood tests (general for kidney etc and specific ones for clotting values etc) have come back good. My kidneys and heart are in good shape for my age but at 17 I am obviously fairly frail compared to a young cat. Our vet is going to talk to the surgeon/and oncologist but at the moment we think surgery is my best bet and I have an appointment for next week.

Are there any other cats out there that have had some kind of major surgery with a big incision when they were 15+. Did you recover from the surgery and get back to as mobile/robust as you were before? Anything else I should think about or ask the vet?

I also have an elderly/ geriatric cat who has to have surgery.She's 18.Her name is TAJA, she' a CALICO. I also am very worried, concerned and afraid.
MY ADVISE;
Is to TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS/ GUT FEELINGS,which is really trusting GOD!ALL,who read this please, PRAY for our cats that they will survive & not suffer.I believe PRAYER is very powerful! GOOD LUCK, MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU and YOUR SWEET BABY!

We can tell you spent a lot of time composing this question. Unfortunately, we cannot predict how your kitty will do with surgery. Even if we have a cat who has undergone surgery at the age of your kitty, it totally depends on how his health was before the surgery. Most vets do a blood test before the surgery to make sure there are no underlying health issues. We can only say, trust your vet to know what is the best for your kitty. We will hold good thoughts for your kitty, keep him in our prayers and send many soft pawpats his way for his full recovey. Please let us know how he's doing!
