Did you go home for the holidays and leave him alone or with a pet sitter? Because I do that to mommy and daddy whenever they leave for a few days, and it takes me as many days as they were gone to get back to the swing of things.

Another reason why he is doing that is maybe that something did happen with him that got him to be insecure. Maybe there were some scary noises in the neighborhood, and he got spooked, and now he is looking at you for reassurance?

Worst case scenario, he might be getting old and his mind might be going, but he might remember that you take care of him, so he figures that if he sticks close, he will be ok.

It's hard to gauge which it is without more details. I would take him to the vet if this is bothersome, and have a workup run on him.

Boris is right. My daughter had a baby around the Holidays and together with the stress of that and the Holidays themselves plus houseguests for a week, her five cats were totally weirded out. In addition, when they started building a new store close to our house, we had construction noise and heavy-duty truck traffic down our street from 7AM to 3PM. My own cats' behavior was definitely altered. Cats that normally didn't want anything to do with us suddenly became lapcats. However, as Boris said, contact your vet to make sure that he's not sick or in pain. Animals are very stoic and have odd ways of letting us know there's something wrong.
