my cat stops eating when i go away, what can i do
My 4 yr old stops eating when being looked after by my neighboor. He loves her and cuddles and wrestles with her, he still plays actively with 2 other cats I have, but he just won't eat. My neighboor tries giving a different food everyday to stimulate him, but eventualy nothing tempts him while I'm away, though he eats a full meal as soon as I get home. I can't avoid going away, can anyone suggest something to do?

My son always maintains that a cat won't let himself starve. He'll eat when he gets hungry enough, and when he's home alone if your neighbor leaves a dish of dry food out, I'd be willing to bet he'll eat it when she's gone and he's alone. He's got his 2 "servants" exactly where he wants you! You're feeling guilty about leaving him and your neighbor is doing everything but performing circus acts to get him to eat. Have her leave some dry food out (the same kind he usually eats), fresh water and a clean box, and enjoy your trips when you go. He'll be fine!
