My 2 year old cat will not stop crying

My 2 year old cat, Benson, has been around other cats all his life. I recently had to move away from a household with 2 other cats, and into my dads basement. My dad hates cats, and will not allow Benson upstairs. All Benson does now, is sit by the basement door and cry all day and all night. I sleep in the basement with him, and any time anyone moves upstairs he runs up to the door, starts scratching and meowing. I have a week to figure out how to fix this before my dad forces me to give up my beloved boy.
Please help!
