Mom wants to know, can cats get hiccups?

Mom has noticed some odd hiccup-like twitching out of me after a burst of friskiness.

Yes they can. Dad spotted me having the hiccups twice as a kitten, both times after I got really riled up running around the apartment at breakneck speeds. Mommy says it was very similar to her having seen infants hiccup: we get this curious look on our faces, as if we're not really sure about what's going on.

I get hiccups, too. Mostly after running around or eating really, really fast.

Yes,cats get hiccups. They have a diaphragm that is why they get hiccups. They mostly get it when they eat too fast.

kaya skye

i get hiccups too, after a bout of kitty krazies or eating too fast...mommy finds it particularly amusing if i try to meow while i'm hiccuping (sort of a protest, you know). says i sound like a little drunk kitten. it's harmless, fun for the human, just a bit annoying for the kitten...
