Lump on tummy after spay
My kitten came home the day after surgery with a lump near the incision. She eats normally and acts the same. Doesn't seem to be in pain... what could it be?

Mine just got spayed a couple days ago and the vet gave us an instruction sheet. Basically it's a common reatcion and harmless unless it get's much bigger, turns red, oozes, or if kitty messes with it (licks or cites at it) Did the vet give you bitter cream? Ours gave us a little syringe of bad tasting gel to put around (not on) the wound to discourage licking...and we had to get one of the goofy lookin collars for poor Bahji but she only needed it for a day or two before she left her wound alone. Just keep an eye on it and report any changes to the vet.

Yes, that is just a reaction to the stitches. As long as it is not warm or red in the area. If it was, then that would be a sign of infection. Kira had a pretty big lump and I took her to the vet for a follow up visit because she also had nasal surgery at the same time. (They don't necessarily do a follow up on the spay but hers was because of the other surgery) The vet said as long as it is hard, not squishy and gentle pressure does not hurt her, it's just a reaction to the stitches. Kira's was pretty big but she was fine within a week. Make sure you mention it to the vet though for her records so if she ever needs another surgery, they know she had a reaction before.

A lump at the incision site is normal after spaying. It will eventually disappear. No need to worry unless the incision site is infected.
During the surgery they put in several layers of internal sutures. A bump like you are describing is normal. It will lay flat again in a few months when the sutures start dissolving.
