Try tin foil! It works especially well for kitties that climb into planters or try the Sticky Paws found on www.ChoicePetproducts.com - double stick tape deters clawing and climbing.

a spray bottle filled with water should stop this bad behavior! Just spray the cat when you catch him in the act
