Itching leads to vomiting leads to rodent ulcer
My cat got rodent ulcer for the first time 2 years ago when she was 10 1/2 years old, oral steroids didn't help so she got prednisone shot which cleared it up. A year later she got it again and now it's coming back every few months. She also spot-licks as if she's itching and she gets bad vomiting spurts. A week ago she threw up about 10 times in 2 hours so I rushed her to the vet, gave her anti-biotics, pain killers, something to make her tummy feel better and fluids. She hasn't thrown up since but she started spot-licking again a few days ago. I've tried every commercial food, nothing matters. She was tested for IBD but came back negative, then doc told me it wasn't a very reliable test. Last week he thought it might be pancreatitis but she has tons of energy and eats like a horse, so the symptoms don't match. It's vomiting, itching, and rodent ulcer. Steroids work but I'd like to avoid them. Any advice so Alabama can feel better?

The only way to positively test for IBD and see the severity would be exploratory surgery. The syptoms don't really match, has she been allergy tested? The rodent ulcer might be a completely unrelated syptom, but caused by a suppressed immune system. How many times has she had the prednisone shot? Her body could be developing a resistance to the prednisone which is causing the rodent ulcers to reoccur more frequently. I might also ask the vet if it could be autoimmune, such as lupus. The symptoms are very confusing.
