I think my cat may have eaten one of his toys.
I think he has eaten his favorite toy. I can't find the toy anywhere. He has tried going to the letter box but nothing came out. He's not drinking. It isn't his usual eating time yet so I don't know about his eating. He's very lethargic and meows in pain going up and down the stairs. He finds unusual places for him to fit into and hid (unusual meaning he's never gone their before). Could he have eaten his toy? Or is it something else? should I take him to the vet?

I can only tell you that if you suspect your cat has eaten something he shouldn't, you need to take him in for at least an x-ray. My dauther's cat ate a foamy puzzle peace a few years ago. It got to the point where she wasn't eating and she was hiding. That's not like Sohpie. My daughter took her into the vet and an x-ray found that she had eaten a small puzzle piece and she needed surgery to remove it. If you have an x-ray, at least if there's nothing in there you will ahve peace of mind. Better safe than sorry. So, yet, if you suspect he may have ingested something, take him in asap. Good luck and let us know what you find ou.

The symptoms you are describing are very typical of an animal ingesting a foreign body. As Izzy stated, even if you didn't see symptoms but still had suspicion, always take the animal into the vet as this can be a very serious condition that will not rectify itself. I hope that you were able to seek professional help for your little one.

If you thought your child had eaten a toy or a coin or something, would you take them to the doctor? Right away without a second thought right? Well do the same with your cat. Cats are creatures of habit. They do the same things day in and day out including litter box habits and eating. If anything has changed, bring your cat in and say "I think she might have eaten something because of this..." Dont wait until it causes more damage.

Look around the house one more time, and then take your cat to get x-rays. If he did swallow the toy, he will most likely need surgery.
