How to get cat with asthma to eat?

She has lost 1.5 pounds of 8 pounds. Xrays show her lungs are scared. She goes to her food, and puts her muzzle on it to try, but does not eat. We have tried regular food, wet food the vet gave us, ham, lunch meat, chicken, hamburger, and even milk, but nothing seems to work. She is not drinking much either due to illness. We need to get her to eat something so she regains her strength and can eat again normally so we trying different foods. She goes to her favorite toy, but does not have energy to grab it. We are giving her antibiotics and sterioids, but she sometimes throws the liquid antibitics up as foam. Taking her to the vet is very stressful as she gets so exicted she can have a major attack and foams a the mouth. Is there anything perhaps another vet can do to get food into her - perhaps intravenously? I am afraid she is going to die - she has been so brave to be rescued off the streets and to survive a major mite infection and asthma!

I am so sorry that your kitty is not well. Have you tried warming up the food? Sometimes a slightly warm food will give off more enticing scents and encourage the kitty to eat. If your baby has already been to the vet's, been examined and diagnosed, it may not be necessary to take her back in. There are alternative therapies such as a nebulizer with albuterol and even oxygen. There are also veterinary specialty clinics that have vets on staff who specialize one field of feline or canine health that your vet may be able to suggest. Call your vet and share with them that you haven't been able to get your kitty to eat, that she's losing weight and energy and that you'd like to explore additional treatment options. Good luck and many purrs.
