how do cats purr? and why?
i want to know why and how cats purr for a science fair project! but i can't figure it out! all i've read is that they use their voice box to purr and that they purr when they are happy, startled, and angry! so can anyone help me?

Depending how complex you need to go for this project, you can also have a look on Google Scholar for academic articles - generally supported by studies - that look into this phenomenon.
