It usually happens when you use plastic bowls for food or water. Try switching to glass, pottery, or metal bowls. It causes "kitty acne" and can sometimes get really swollen.

It could be feline acne (my cat was just diagnosed with this). If bad, he may need antibiotics, and my vet has me dab a bit of hydrogen peroxide on the chin once a day and he also has to wear the "cone". Also, replace any plastic dishes with stainless steel or ceramics. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected.

Don't worry about the picture - we are not vets here - just pet owners like yourself. If you are concerned - take your baby to the vet. I can offer you some thoughts - it may be feline acne which is common and treatable. It could be an abscess originating in your kittens mouth - and that can become very serious. Or it could be an insect bite or skin allergy. Best thing is to see the vet and let them take a look. Good luck.
