My cat is 14 and within the past year her behavior has steadily became worse. She's always on the counter and even climbs up on the stove to eat out of pots and pans, luckily the stove was off at the time. She's been urinating on left over shingles from my roof in our basement instead of her litter. And the other day she peed in our living room because she was mad at my mom. What can I do?!

I read once that animals can actually contract something like Alzheimer's. Usually when there is a sudden change in behavior, your kitty is emotionally upset about something. Think back on what might have changed, even something as small as a new litter box, a new location or new litter. You should also have her checked by the vet for a bladder or kidney infection and a general check-up if she hasn't been in a while. Like Senior Citizen humans, older animals take more care than younger ones. Do you think she'd like to play? Get her some new toys and spend some time with her and see if that works. She should also have her stool checked for worms because they can make her feel like she's always hungry. Like everything else, dietary changes can be a part of getting older.
