Help me pick a kitten food!

I've had Obi for a few weeks now and am trying to figure out what's best to feed him. When I first adopted him I just bought him the same stuff that the humane society had been feeding him so that it would ease the transition home. That was the Nutro max kitten food shown here: www.nutroproducts.com
Now that he's been home a few weeks I want to see if maybe there's something better. I've heard good things about the Wellness foods so lately I've been mixing in some of the wellness dry kitten food shown here: www.wellnesspetfood.com

Can anybody here provide me with some insight on which is better or perhaps suggest something else?
I give him the dry food so that he can graze on it during the day while we're at work and give him a can of wet food when I get home.

He's four months old. So far he hasn't been a picky eater either. He had a worm issue as a baby and now we're trying to put on weight. Thanks!

Ah! You have asked my favorite question!!

Here are some ingredients to avoid when looking for cat food:
Corn
Wheat
Soy
Menadione Bisulfite Complex
Ethoxyquin
Digest
By-products

The ideal diet for a cat is be a homemade diet which is based off of natural ingredients so you know exactly what is going into your pet. You can find more information in most holistic cat care books. Natasha eats a homecooked diet and she LOVES it!

Some good cat food brands include Solid Gold, Innova, Natural Balance, Wellness, Premium Edge, and Kirkland (found at Costco).

Avoided brands include Nutro, Cat Chow, Meow Mix, Friskies, Fancy Feast, Delicat, and Iams/Eukanuba.

I think switching to Wellness would be a great idea if you cannot switch him to an even healthier grain-free homecooked diet. Wellness uses human-quality ingredients!

Also, be sure you switch slowly as to not upset his tummy.

I hope this helps!

The Wellness products are really a good quality food. However, mine won't touch Wellness wet food no matter which flavor I try. My dry food is Innova EVO. It has no grain in it and I like it because it is one formula for both cats and kittens. The kibble is nice and small (size is a big issue for my girls' little mouths) and it not only works for my range of ages but I also won't need to change them over from a kitten formula to an adult. What you need to do is just read the ingredients. The meat or fish should come first and you don't want to see a lot of grains in the first few ingredients.

Our Shelter sent us home with EAGLE PACK dry kitten food for our recently adopted kittens (9 weeks and 11 weeks old)

Whats everyones thoughts on Eagle Pack (i didnt see it on your list of good or bads!) ? It is expensive food...but looks decent. I just want to ensure it is good quality before i invest another $15 for more of it.....
