flea question.Revolution. and more
On behalf of my children I come to you searching for answers They both feel very ashamed since things like these have never happened before I noticed my 2 daughters scratching a lot since 2 days ago suspecting for fleas I combed them and found trace of flea droppings or at least that's what I think: tiny dark red colored C shaped which turned blood color when rubbed on wet towel. Called immediately their Vet and she advised Revolution, flea powder for carpets, and wash linen bed and lounges with soap and bleach. We start the treatments tomorrow, but as I read more about Revolution, i got mixed feelings about its effectiveness, and what is more important, I wonder if this chemical wont be too strong for their beautiful shiny fur or sensitive skin since they never got treatments like these before. Any advise? Is there any alternative methods?

Don't be embarrassed about fleas, they are easy to catch and everyone gets them. Few cats have reactions to the flea meds that you get at the vet (Revolution, Frontline or Advantage) but stay clear of the other cheaper ones at the grocery store.

I have tried Revolution, Front Line and Advantage over the years. I never had any problems with Revolution or Advantage. I did, however, have a cat who used to have seizures within 24 hours of using Front Line. I switched to Advantage on her and she had no problem. I have used Advantage on an elderly stray (17 or so) since last summer and he has had no problem either. Make sure that the flea product is for cats and some of them go by their weight. DON'T USE ANY STORE BRANDS (like Hartz, etc.). They are the ones you need to be weary of! Once the cats have been treated with a good flea product, the fleas will die and the cats will be flea free for about 30 days. Re-apply the medication in one month. Keep your house very clean (floors, carpets, cat's bedding). You shouldn't have any more problems as long as the environment is treated and cleaned as well. Best of luck.
