You need to bathe your cat in Dawn dish liquid soap. It will remove the topical flea stuff from her fur and skin and also get rid of any fleas. Next step, take her to a new vet! I'm not a vet, but I would think the most sensible thing to do in this situation is to give the poor cat a steroid injection. Maybe this would relieve her of her itching and discomfort. Your cat will most likely need some steroid medication to keep this skin condition under control. Best of luck.

The only way to deal with this is to completely clear the house and cat of fleas. For the house try De Flea by Natural Chemistry. Spray it all around the edges of the carpets and any furniture etc that she sleeps on. It will kill all fleas and their eggs. You can do this every few months and flea traps can help keep the house clear For your cat has the vet tried Capstar? Its a pill that kills all the fleas on a cat and shouldn't cause an allergic reaction (check with your vet). It just kills what is on the cat and doesn't give any lasting protection but if you use De Flea to get rid of fleas in the house 1st then there won't be any to hop back onto her. If it is OK for her you may be able to use Capstar whenever you 1st see a reaction to fleas (and De Flea the house) before she gets bad. Also Dawn Dishwashing liquid is used on kittens too young for flea meds. Bathe with Dawn and use a flea comb if her skin isn't too sore. The dermatologist vet is a good idea too.

You may want to call around for a vet that specializes in dermatology. I know they are out there. Also, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has had many unusual cases with skin problems and might be able to help you. You can log onto their website and email them and try calling them. Good luck, poor kitty.
