If the cat is truly feral, which puts it on a level with a wild animal such as a raccoon or squirrel, you may want to enlist the aid of an animal rescue. These cats can be vicious when trapped, and if you are not trained to handle them, you could be severely injured. If it's "just" a stray, purchase or borrow a hav-a-hart trap. Practice the latch to make sure it's set right (tap the plate in the bottom to trip the latch) Purchase the cheapest, smelliest, oiliest cat food or tuna you can find. Put some in the trap and around the door/outside of the trap. Set it in a secluded area. Then all you can do is wait. I trapped Izzie within 5 minutes, but trapping his mother took 4 days. Also, make sure you know what you are going to do with this cat before you trap it. Not all vets handle feral cats. DO NOT try to remove it from the cage yourself. Good luck...and thanks for caring!
