Eyelid turned "inside out"
Monkee, age 2, had a serious upper resp infection when I adopted him as a kitten. He's been healthy ever since, but there's something with his eyelids, mostly the left. The upper lid has a section that is inside out...like the red part is showing. It looks like when kids in school used to turn their lids inside out. Its not the inner eye corners or those membranes. It looks like the actual underside of the eyelid is showing. Any ideas?

Without actually seeing Monkee, it's impossible to tell what's going on. There is a condition called "Cherry Eye" or Horner's syndrome that causes the third eyelid to protrude. It can be cured by salve prescribed by your veterinarian. If it were my cat, I would definitely take him to see his vet. Issues with the eyes are nothing to dismiss as unimportant as they could potentially cause blindness.

Was the eyelid always like that, or is it a recent thing? Cats can be born with inverted eyelids. Blindness can result from the eyelashes rubbing against the cornea. Surgery can correct this, but the eye may not ever look totally normal, and the surgery can cost a bit. I know because I had a kitty like this. In any event, eyes are nothing to fool around with. Go to the vet.
