Ear-tipping is used to indicate that a feral cat has been spayed/neutered. Chances are your cat was domesticated at a very young age (usually before 10 weeks). I once had a 6-1/2 month old feral cat spayed and was ready to return her to her "colony" when someone I know thought she was very beautiful and would not allow me to let her go outside. The man and his wife had adopted a 9-week old feral kitten from me previously and decided to take this one as well. Both cats are fully domesticated and both are ear-tipped. I wouldn't be too concerned as you stated you have had your cat for over 2 years.
