Does my cat have a food allergy?
I am currently feeding my cats science diet and have been for 2 months. One of my cats has developed a cough/wheeze. It was horrible sounding for about a week, and then slowly got better. I can now only hear it when she purrs, and occasionally I hear it when she gets "winded". She has ALWAYS had moderate dandruff problems. I have read several post that both of these symptoms could be food allergies. My vet did not seemed concerned, nor my close friend who is a vet tech. Also, the wheezing began at the same time all of the pollen flared up. They are indoor kitties, but I'm sure we tracked some in the house. Any ideas? Suggestions? Should I change their diets again? I don't really want to spend more on cat food (innova evo, wellness) , but I will if needed.

I wouldn't change her diet until you're sure it's a food allergy and not a contact allergy or something else. It could even be a mild upper respiratory infection. Cats, since they are low to the ground, can even be affected by those plug-in deodorizers we use. Even food allergies can be accompanied by itching and skin issues, so check her skin for those. In any case, since you are truly concerned about her, I'd get back in touch with your vet and let them know.

When I first got Hunter, he was sneezing and then started having a runny nose. I brought him to the vet and they told me to watch him for the next few days. At that time I slowly switched him to wet food (wellness grain Free Wet /Wellness Core Dry) Since then, no more sneezing and runny nose! I personally think it was the Science Diet Hunter was on.
Try incorporating wet food in their diet. Perferably a good quality canned food. You might see a difference, especially with the dandruff. Good Luck!
