Does anyone know how to help a momma cat and her kittens?

Does anyone know how to go about helping a momma cat and her kittens? I am willing to get them spayed and neutered, but have no way to catch them, especially since they are on a property of run down apartments & I would be tresspassing. I have tried to contact 3 local animal shelters and am waiting to hear from the humane society but so far no one seems to want to help, it's very frustrating. Any ideas?

The idea that these little ones are not on your property certainly complicates things. You might consider calling the local shelters and asking if they rent out humane traps that will catch the kitties without any harm at all. And if you get a "no" from them, I would call private rescue groups and ask the same question. And from my own experience of trying to catch escaped kittens/cats, I have found that a fishing net (the kind that you use when you're fishing and have reeled the fish to the side of the boat, and you need to put the net in the water right by the boat to lift the fish in. These come in all kinds of sizes are are quite inexpensive. I would recommend a large one with a long handle. You'd be amazed how much you can surprise a critter and catch them with one of these, because you can come up to them from behind & quickly swoop the net over them without having to be that close. Good Luck!! I applaud your wonderful efforts to be willing to spay & neuter these babies.

The first two to three weeks are the most crucial for your mother cat and her newborn kittens. The kittens should be developing rapidly, and the queen will usually show symptoms of any post-partum problems by this time.

Contact your nuter & spay clinic that deals with feral cats, or a rescue organization. Let them know you are trying to help a feral cat & her kittens & they will give you a cage to capture them. Put a blanket over the cage & food inside. You will have to be very patient and this could take all day. If you are able to catch the babies put them in a carrier at the end of the cage, but not inside the cage & the mommy will go inside to get the babies. I wouldn't worry so much about the tresspassing means how no one wants to help.
