If you let them outside, yes. Female cats usually stay pretty close to home territory where as unneutered males will often wander for miles looking for new females, but any cat with access to the outdoors can end up going stray because any cat can get lost or be spooked by something and run off far without thinking and anything can happen to them at any time while they are outside and you'll probably never find out unless they are microchipped and someone picks them up and has them scanned. We still highly recommend you have your female cat spayed, as being unspayed makes her want to escape outside and find a male cat any chance she can get, increases her risk for several types of cancer, and can lead to unwanted kittens if she ever does sneak out; but your first line of defense for keeping her with your family is to create a safe and healthy indoor environment and do your best to keep her in there.
