Somehow I can't imagine a wild cat raiding a bee hive, so I'd have to say no, it shouldn't be in their diet. Personally, I'd love to eat pizza every night, but that doesn't mean it's good for me ;-) I would not give Tiger honey to eat. If a few drops spill on the counter when you're using it, it's not going to make him ill, but I would not deliberately feed it to him.

I wouldn't give it to him either. Its sugar basically. it can lead to tooth decay. Do you brush his teeth daily? We had a siamese cat that craved doritos. he also lost all his teeth before dying. And mom didn't brush his teeth

no, honey is NOT 'basically sugar' www.benefits
there's a site that lays it out really accessibly. i would be much less concerned about my cat getting into honey than i would them doing what my cats in fact do from time to time, which is lick up the sugar that spills when my legally blind roommate fills the bowl. basically, honey is made up of two simple sugars which our bodies-and i'm thinking cats as well-can easily absorb. it is a natural antibiotic, and actually SETTLES the stomach. ease up, folks. i wouldn't pour it on tiger's kibble, but letting him lick a few drops, even if it's every day, every other day? moderation in all things. namaste & nip....

Cats are obligate carnivores, so I would avoid sugars or starches in their diet. Then again, honey is not a plant based sugar. Or is it? It comes from flower nectar processed in the gut of a bee...
That's right. Honey is bee vomit.
BUT - cats can't taste sweet. So, in general, I wouldn't feed a cat anything that's sweet. If you're not made to taste it, I reason it's something you don't need in your diet.

My cat Thorne eats honey as well, I would just recommend that you only offer it about once or twice a week and only a few drops. ^_^
Ive been doing this for a while and Thorne has had no adverse affects on his teeth. (Though i do feed him dry food, wet food is a once month treat.)
Also if you do give Tiger honey only give the local stuff, it will help with allergies. :)
