Cats and Parvo

So my friend called me the other day and told me that her dog had contracted Parvo. She was very upset and had sanitized her whole house but was concerned about the catties here at my home because she's frequently visiting and was worried she could have brought the germs over with her before they knew the dog had it. The dog itself has never been to my home and I called my vet to ask if there should be any concern of transfer from my friend's contact with my cats and the vet said there shouldn't be any problems as it doesn't transmit from cat to dog...different strains or something like that.
I'd just like to get the info and opinions of those of you out there in InternetLand....should we be concerned that out felines could contract it?

Your poor friend! I hope they were able to save her dog! From what I've read, your vet is right. Parvo is a canine specific disease. Cats can't catch it from dogs. But, if you are still worried, you can re-phone your vet for further reassurances.

It is impossible for a cat to get Parvo. It is something that only dogs get.
