Anyway to introduce my cats to getting baths?

my 2 kitties are 6mo old and haven't had a bath yet. Spanky smells like he dived into a garbage can and Ira just needs a bath. What is a good way to give them a bath without them freaking out? I gave them each a bath when they were about 3mo and they didn't like it at all...but they smell like dumpsters! Any advice?

Give the bath somewhere like a bathroom where you can close the door to keep the cat confined. Put just enough lukewarm water in the tub to cover their paws. Use a large plastic cup to scoop water and poor on them. Hold the kitten by the "scruff" of the neck but don't pinch and/or lift the cat by the scruff. Just hold firm enough to keep them from bolting out. Wet kitties down thoroughly but do not pour water on head/face area. Use a shampoo made for kittens and avoid the head area. Don't use too much shampoo-hard to rinse out. You can wipe their heads down with a wet washcloth later. Some cats freak when the faucet is turned on, so you may want to have a pitcher of clean warm water nearby but rinse slowly-don't dump! Rub kitties dry gently with a large towel. Give lots of treats, cuddles and playtimes after. Oh, and if your cats are like mine, you may also want to have EMS standing by just in case. ;-) ;-)
