Cat-Sweater Weather is BACK, Baby, and We're Celebrating in Style
Ahh, fall is here, which means crunchy leaves, pumpkin-flavored everything, and best of all, cat-sweater weather. You know, that magical time of year when you pack up your kitty tees and swap them out for chunky long-sleeved tops, covered in cat motifs.
With the current cat fashion craze in full swing, there's certainly no shortage of fresh feline looks to cuddle up in. No matter what your style, you're sure to find a cat sweater to match.
I like to call this look "me in sweater form," because if I could pick one top to describe my style, this would be it. Despite my fondness for writing about over-the-top cat design, I really adore the contrast of the white kitty face against the dramatic black shoulders and sleeves.
The simple silhouette is anything but boring, and completely cute and chic. It's a versatile look that can be worn with jeans and dressed up with sparkly flats and gold jewelry accents. Plus, anything with a heart-shaped nose is automatically awesome in my book.
Cats and heavy metal may not seem an obvious pairing, but I admire the juxtaposition of sweet kittens on a baby pink sweater, with a satanic edge.
It's unclear if these kitties bow down at the altar of Meowtallica or HISS, but these lil' devil-worshippers have already won over my heart. Another cool thing about this cropped look is that it's a double-sided design -- which means that there's even more kitten butts to love on the back.
If you're going for more of a unique, vintage look, how about an old-fashioned ugly cat sweater to round out your winter wardrobe?
The Sweater Store, the Internet's premier website for ugly Christmas sweaters, recently stocked its shop with more than 90 vintage cat sweaters in a variety of brash colors and questionable prints, which are honestly more adorable than ugly. Also, the best part is that 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales of the sweaters go to the ASPCA -- so you can look stylin' while helping out kitties at the same time.
ASOS has quite a few cat sweatshirts and sweaters to get you through a cold snap, but my pick is this big, bold, and beautiful wild cat print top.
I was initially drawn to the pretty, intricate markings on the kitty's head, and maybe it's just me, but something about this guy's sweet, friendly expression just puts me in a good mood, which is what cat fashion is all about.
When Justin Timberlake sang, "It's like you're my mirror, my mirror staring back at me," I'm not sure if he was talking about Jessica Biel or the cutie cats on this sweater from White House Black Market.
The sophisticated design features two regal black cats on a drapey, tunic style top, perfect for pairing over leggings. It's a nice grown-up lady look, complete with sparkly rhinestone accents, which will make the little girl in you squee.
