Artist Amber Alexander's Cats in Classic Outfits: Too Precious

The artist's work is delicate, refined, and all the cats and kitties are in clothes. What a perfect world.

The painting of a cat kicking back with a glass of wine that has been making its way around the Internet recently is the work of Amber Alexander, a Vermont-based artist who was inspired early in life by Beatrix Potter.

A Hard Day

Her childhood practice of drawing pictures of animals wearing clothing seems to have stuck, as the watercolor artist's current portfolio is chock-full of animals who don't mind getting a little fancy.

Math

While Alexander admits to being a dog owner (she has two Poodles named Olin and Izzy), she still manages to feature a plethora of felines in her paintings, with smile-inducing descriptions to match their offbeat subject matter. For example, in the listing for a print titled "Math," a kitten laments:

The first problem was easy, the second not so bad,
but the third problem had kitty sweating bullets
"What kind of a teacher would give a kitten a problem like this?" she thought.

My Baby

While in another of a cat cradling a puppy in her dress, Alexander explains

A formal portrait of a very serious kitty who found a stray Poodle-esque dog and adopted her as her own.
This kitty has a VERY strong nurturing instinct as normally these two probably wouldn't get along so well.
Kitty even carries her around in her dress, all the while referring to the little dog as "My Baby, My Baby." What luck to have found such a kind feline soul.
