Through December: 35th San Francisco SPCA/Macy’s Holiday Windows

Join the San Francisco SPCA for the 35th annual Holiday Windows event at Macy’s Union Square! Over the years, this holiday tradition has helped more than 10,000 homeless animals find their forever families. In addition, donations are raised to support the SF SPCA’s year-round lifesaving work. Last year, the pandemic made things a little tricky, so instead of filling the holiday windows with adoptable animals, the SF SPCS created special videos of rescue animals and shelter alumni. The webcams played for 6,611 hours and got 122,352 total views – and 341 cats were adopted! For full details on this year’s event, visit sfspca.org/holiday.

7-13: Animal Shelter & Rescue Appreciation Week

This special week recognizes the shelters that provide care and facilitate the adoption of abandoned and stray animals. It also acknowledges shelter staff who work tirelessly to help save animals. A great way to celebrate this week is to get to know your local animal shelter and learn about the kinds of support it needs to keep providing services to the animals and the community. Consider donating, volunteering or even adopting a new best friend!
