Declawing amounts to physical and psychological torture to a cat — yet most states in the U.S. still allow the barbaric act. Fortunately, good folks at the Paw Project are working to increase awareness of the issue and get the practice banned. The latest effort in the movement is a new music video titled “Cats In Trouble” that stars 12 of the most famous Cats of Instagram.
Based on the concept of cats using their claws to get in trouble, the music flick features short segments of felines such as Gary, Porkchop, and Nala engaging in shenanigans that usually involve the use of their paws and claws. The production is the brainchild of the human behind N2 the Talking Cat (whose comedy videos you might have seen), and sets the footage to a hip-hop track with anti-declawing lyrics.
“We were contacted asking if we had any footage of Seamus and Angus getting into trouble,” says the owner of the two Exotic Shorthair Persian Instagram sensations who star in the video. “It was surprisingly hard to find since their videos are more bromantic in nature.”
She searched, though, and found “never-before-seen footage of Seamus attempting to eat Angus when he was just a kitten! We’ve never shown anyone because it was so terribly naughty but hilarious now that they’ve grown up. It was perfect for this project.”
