Meowmy and daddy have done it again. Dragged ANOTHER cat home. I'm trying not to be grumpy, but it's hard. She use to live across the road and was my arch enemy. She now is living in MY room!

Is this like when Jacqui arrived? If so I guess I can live with it. My food intake didn't reduce, my cuddles remained. HeHe... Jacqui looks more worried than me.

I guess grudgingly I can say welcome Katie cat, just leave me and my food alone!

I'm glad meowmy has the flannelette sheets on the bed so I can crawl in and be warm. I go out early in the morning and do a surveillance of the yard. My toes get frigid.

I come in again quickly, I don't want to freeze to death. I go back to bed for a little while until meowmy or daddy gets up, grab breakfast, do another quick circuit of the yard and then crawl into bed with Cousin.
I like waking meowmy in the middle of the night and ask to go out. I like a little snack, the door opened to let me out, the window open to let me in. I really don't see why this is a problem for her.

Also, as a supermodel size kitty, the indoor scratchy post is hardly my size. Then I discovered Bertha. Bertha is meowmy's dress making dummy. She is great. Good claw scratch, good height AND wakes meowmy.

Meowmy has been telling me 'no' when I use Bertha. She has even given me playful swipes. But it is so good!

Then.... Meowmy stayed at home trying to cough up a very stubborn fur ball yesterday. It still hasn't dislodged but she is planning to go to work today.

Fool. I can plan my revenge. Why? Last night I did the usual, bedside table, scratch Bertha to wake meowmy. She mumbles 'no', I ignore her. She gets up, normal plan achieved, but: Meowmy goes into the kitchen and gets the TIN FOIL! Have you ever tried to scratch that stuff? AHHHHHhhhhhrrrrg! then she goes back to bed, still trying to dislodge that fur ball before falling asleep.

I'm stuck inside. Nothing will wake her. I play with Jacqui, I climb over her. I try to get out the window. SHE IGNORES ME!

I'll show her.... I have all the time in the world to plan!

Is anyone else sick of the weather? I remember when the biggest concern was where to lay in the sun to get warm or where to avoid the sun!

First we had rain, rain, and more rain. Then meowmy and daddy stayed home for THREE days but still didn't play with me. No, they were watching the news and talking about shoving me in a box in the ceiling if need be. Only bright bit was they were going to do the same with Jacqui and the guinea pigs if 'need be'. I have to work out what a flood is. Apparently for us it was a non event.

Then it became really hot and stinky, with occassional rain. Then they were talking about something called Yasi. Sounded mean and apparently going to bother dad's family. Nothing about putting them in boxes in the ceiling....

Meowmy was showing me pics of something white and fluffy, like my tummy, that is bothering furriends. Something called snow storms. She says that snow makes it cold and wet. I could do with some cold but I've had enough wet.

This week I turned 9. the Vet said at 9 they want to start running olde furt tests on me to pre-empt aging health problems. At nine?!? It makes me sound geriatric. Meowmy laughed and said I'm still her baby cat and will always be. I felt so, so insulted. One treating me as an old cat, the other calling me a baby.

Anyway I've got a few months until my vet visit is due so I'll put all that nastiness away in the back of my mind.

I've been spending a lot of time sleeping. there isn't much else to do as it has been raining for weeks and weeks. Meowmy is happy with me because I've been coming in on my own at curfew, without her and daddy having to scour the neighbourhood and drag me in. Yeah, like I want to sit in a puddle at night!

I have been helping meowmy paint! She has been fixing up the lounge room which was not very pretty or cat friendly. Yesterday when she was up the ladder painting the ceiling I snuck in and checked out what she was doing.

MOL! There was paint on the floor. What was I to do? I couldn't resist. I thought Jacqui, who was sniffing around like normal, would get the blame. I paddled through a puddle of paint.

I then when for stroll through the dining room to meowmy's bedroom, to cousin's room, through the kitchen to the back deck. Job well done, I went to a comfy spot to sleep, confident that Jacqui would get the blame!

It didn't work. I didn't count on the paint trail leading straight to my sleepy hole!

One moment he was here, the next he was gone.

His folks took him. I'm glad. I didn't want him living with us. I'm glad we were right his folks loved him. But...

Now Jacqui wants to play with me. She comes up and tries to get me to play. She use to bother Nermie. It is very difficult to have a peaceful snooze with the energiser kitty jumping all over me.

Now there is less food around. Nermie use to line up with us and food for 3 cats was put out. I use to be able to clean up everyones. Now, that option has gone.

I'm sad. Jacqui tries to get me to entertain her. My food intake has reduced.

Looking cute is one thing, but killing vermin?! She is making it look like a cat is meant to work. I showed her up. I caught a gecko. I woke meowmy up to show here I'm a great huntress also. I looked cute doing it.

Now, meowmy is even trying to make me sleep on the bed again, like I did before SHE arrived! You know. The bed was nice, even though I had to share it with The Arrival and meowmy and daddy. Actually, it was real nice to know I'm loved.

Anyone who has read my diary knows I have a focus in life: FOOD!

Unfortunately I'm on a strict diet and I am deprived of anything that gives me adequate nourishment (except when mum isn't looking and I bat my eyes at daddy!).

At meal times there are 3 of us now. The new arrival (Jacqui), the cat from down the street (Nermal) and myself. Each of us have different dietary requirements.

Me - I'm supposed to have the empty vapid cardboard that the vet calls a prescription weight loss food.
Nermal - gets to eat regular cat dry food (Yummy!)
Jacqui - gets the super power kitten food (Extra delicious)

The challenge, to get us to eat the correct food! Nermie gets fed outside, Jacqui in the bedroom and me, in the kitchen of course! Now, I head straight for Jacqui's food, Jacqui heads for Nermie's and Nermie for mine. We think it is a fair trade but not the hoomans!

Mum tries
locking us in our different food areas
feeding me first so that I feel full (yeah right. I have a weight problem remember!)
feeding us at different times.

Silly meowmy! We love bamboozling her!

Hmmm... maybe there is a reason the scales aren't shifting!

Things are starting to settle down with the new arrival. Meowmy put some video on my page to show everyone what I have to put up with. Okay, when I'm in a good mood I can tolerate it, but I do love my sleep. Sometimes I just have to walk away.

Meowmy gets upset as I won't stay inside very long. How can I with Jacqui trying to use me as a trampoline when she isn't trying to extract my brain through my ear!

It is a little better now as she has worked out how to burn off energy outside. Yep, she has discovered the great outdoors. Meowmy has put a picture of her up a tree on her page. Way up a tree. She is like the Energiser Bunny on Steroids!

The funniest thing is when Jacqui wants to complain. You can't take it seriously. She squeals like a....a kitten! She can't even meow properly!

Oh well, Meowmy says she will settle down as she gets older. I just wonder how long that is going to take.

okay, I was Diary Pick of the day 17/12/09. Today I scored a daily diary pick.... Hmmm. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled with the honour, but I hadn't updated my diary!!!! MOL!

I guess it's Catster's way of prompting me to do another entry!

It is almost Christmas and I have found one very positive aspect to having Jacqui in the house - leftovers! Yes, a few of you pointed that out to me when I was worrying about her imminent arrival. I just didn't realise how great they would be. She gets tinned food!!!!! (Lucy's mum: not that Lucy ever ate tins before her diet!).

I have almost forgiven meowmy. I let her give me a big smooch and cuddle me this morning, but not for too long.

Daddy went away on the big silver birdie this morning. Meowmy says she expects me to sleep in the room with her and Jacqui.... not sure if I'm ready for that!

On another topic, we finally got some rain! Yes, the yard is looking a bit greener and the plants have freshened up! Oh, if the sun comes out for Friday it is going to be a very hot and steamy Catmus with mozzies!

I have decided that meowmy has better ears than a cat. Well, at least when it comes to us cats.

One minute I am enjoying myself, the next I have to pretend it was all meowmy's imagination. You know what I mean, put on that disdainful look, pretend that it was below my standards to sink to that level....

What happened? Early hours of Sunday morning. I knew meowmy and daddy were holed up with that kitten in the bedroom. So I came inside and headed into the lounge. Of course Nermal was there. The room is full of cat toys. More seem to have been added since The Arrival. What are 2 cats meant to do, no hooman's, a room full of toys? We played. Yes, Nermal and I have developed a strategic alliance to combat The Arrival.

We were just enjoying ourselves when I look up and meowmy is standing at the door. How embarrassing. Of course I had to pretend I was just walking past Nermal (Lucy's mum: Nermal was crouched down paws under the mat, Lucy was six inches away getting ready to pounce). Nermal, thank goodnesss, reacted quickly and rolled over to indicate he was just lounging around.

How on earth did meowmy pick us up? (Lucy's mum: The continual tinkling of Lucy's bell had attracted my attention). NEVER again!

I love chatting to my furriends on Catster. It is my thing to do. It makes me special from the other kitties in the neighbourhood. I only know 2 other households in the WHOLE city who are active on Catster (Utu and family and Mason and family).

That is why meowmy is in my bad books. She has put Nermal on - AS A FAMILY member. Just check him out (ID 1060142). Sitting there trying to look like a cute little kitten. He is old. He was around when my angel sisfurs were here BL (before Lucy). He must be ancient!

I am not going to let him chat! Nope. He can get his own meowmy and daddy to help him. I'm hogging meowmy's computer time.

I have finally accepted that Nermal (AKA Flash) will be my permanent buddy, whether I want it or not. The bright spot is that I know, despite his being around most of the day, he doesn't actually live with me. I am still an only cat, the center of meowmy and daddy's world. What more could a kitty ask for.

That is why this week has been so unsettling. A furriend of meowmy's has been adopted by a cat. A female cat. A female cat who last weekend graced her with 6 kittens. She sent meowmy a picture of the kittens. 3 brown tabbies and three ginger tabbies. Yes, cute kittens in the picture, only 5 days old! Wow, was I ever that small????

I could tolerate meowmy talking about cute kittens but then... No. I can't say it. She said.... how about we take one? NOOOOOOOOoooooooo! Kitten! Playful, cute, demanding kitten. I know who would have to look after it when meowmy and daddy go to work every day. Moi. I am an only kitty! I am the fluffy bundle of joy in their world. I do not want another feline living in the house....

Kitten. Meowing, kneading, wanting. Yick.

Note to self: show meowmy she doesn't need a kitten as she has me!

About 3 weeks ago a strange phenomenon called school holidays started here. Something funny happens with the hooman two footers. they don't go down the street to the school there.

When this strange thing started this time, something fantasmagorical started. Nermie (aka Flash) was catnapped. Well, not really. His daddy, his REAL daddy, came and dragged him home. MOL! Nermie was not happy. Ears flattened against his head and all. Meowmy and daddy just waved him off. That was great.

It took me a couple of days to realise but no one was eating my food. Nermie wasn' sleeping on my deck. He wasn't lying around my lounge room. I checked and rechecked. He wasn't there. YIPPEE!

I was an only cat! I was so happy! Meowmy said something about Nermie probably being locked up at home. Good!

This week school returned. Two footers were back on the path to school. Yes, you guessed. Nermie returned. His back. Drat! His back eating my food, back sleeping on my deck, back flopping out in the lounge :(

I tested mummy out. She still obeys my every command. Multiple middle of the night feeds demanded and received. Pats and attention received from daddy. Hold on, Nermie food has reappeared. I'm not permitted to eat Nermie food but what the hooman's don't know.....

Maybe it isn't so bad having Nermie around.

I love my dust baths. I love rolling around in the dirt and covering myself in it. I love coming inside and putting dust everywhere. So guess what? Mother nature decided to do it all for me today!

All I had to do was go outside. There was so much dust everything was pink! Flowers that had been white in the morning were a dirty red- brown. The house, which is white, has layers of red dust everywhere! My deck had a layer of dust!

When meowmy came home I had been playing in the yard. She noticed my white fur was tinged red-brown and I hadn't even been rolling around!

Meowmy explained that the red dust was from central Australia. Because everything is so dry the winds picked up all the loosed dirt and moved it east. The dust storm moved from western NSW, east to the sea and all the way up to the gulf of Queensland. That is one HUGE dust storm. For kitties who don't know Oz, the storm traveled distance similar from Texas to South Carolina east and north to Canada. The storm may actually make it to New Zealand tomorrow!

Happy days for dust bathing kitties!!!!!

***Lucy's mum: It's the worst dust storm on record. Visibility was 10-20meters in Sydney and down to 100m in Brisbane***

As a cat I love trees. I never thought I would get upset by a tree, but I was today. My back yard has three BIG trees. Meowmy always tells me that they were designed for cats to climb. Right. With my weight I would rip out my claws trying.

So why am I upset by the tree. Combine it with the stoopid kitty Nermal. Can you believe he tried to give me a face rub today! The nerve of the little upstart! However, I'm going off on a tangent, back to the tree.

Meowmy and daddy were sitting on the deck. I was lying around enjoying the warmth of the day with them. Suddenly Nermal decides he is going to chase a bird. I didn't mind that, I hadn't noticed it. Nermal doesn't stop at the base of the tree. He climbs all the way up. Way up the tree into the top branches.

Meowmy and daddy actually praised him for doing so. Not me, meowmy just pointed out how Nermal was earning cute points and he isn't even our cat! She even picked me up to make sure I saw Nermal doing his trick. I hoped he would get stuck up the tree. No not Nermal. A few minutes later he gracefully hops down, as if he had just been strolling along the path.

That Nermal! He is really pushing his luck.

I was sleeping on my bed. Yes, I have my own bed again, but that is another story. Meowmy came in and gave me pats. I like pats. She left. I thoght that was very nice. Then she came back and PICKED ME UP! not nice. I was dreaming. I was snoozing. She disturbed me. She put me in a CAGE!
Aren't there laws against this?

Daddy picked up the cage and before I knew it I was in the car on the way to who knows where. I hate the car. Were they taking me to the RSPCA? I still remember THAT trip. I was shaking. Daddy made a crack about getting a better mouse hunter. What is a cat to do? For months I've been pointing out there is a mouse in the kitchen that I can't get. Now that it nibbled through the hose to the dishwasher I'm shoved in a cage.

Meowmy tried to be positive. She patted me and talked to me. I'm in a CAR! it is a scary experience. Then we pull into a carpark which I recognise. I'm at the VET.

Waiting. Meowmy talks to an imbicile cat called Buttons looking for a home. Is that why I'm here? To meet another feline to challenge my authority?

Shelly steps out. She says my name. I'm taken into the examination room. Meowmy pulls me out of my cage, which is seeming a very safe option, and puts me up on the scales. Oh god, maybe the RSPCA would have been better. It is weigh in day. I'm 8.95 kg. My cheeks go red. Shelly says what a good girl I am. I've lost 250gm. Still not down to 8.6 but it is a loss.

Shelly says I'm still in her best two cats for weight loss. I have to find my competition. I use to be her best weight loss cat. I hear meowmy and daddy discussing my flees. I have some tablets shoved down my throat. Tape worm. What is tape worm? Daddy mentions chicken necks. Shelly isn't horrified. Meowmy mentions tuna. Shelly isn't horrified. I may get real food yet.

Meowmy says today is Saturday, tuna day. They have moved to psychological torture. All I see is dry food. Acres and acres of dry food. Nermal gets variety and he is the neighbours cat. All I get is prescription food!

Where is this tuna? Where are my chicken breasts. I want real food.

Now I don't mind a bit of warmth in winter. Give me a sunny spot any day but this is getting a bit silly. It usually is this temperature mid summer. The only positive about it is that there is no humidity as yet.

Instead of lying in the sun I've started seeking that shady spot with a cool breeze. Meowmy is keeping me company, watering the garden. Still with a watering can as despite all the rain we had we still have water restrictions - no hoses.

Meowmy is happy as my appetite seems to be reducing with the heat. Well why not, I'm not trying to burn energy to keep warm.

I guess soon we will all be looking for ways to cool down. I hope the AC monster is working....

The torture continues.

Can you believe meowmy and dad - they give me my bland prison rations yet give the neighbours cat food that looks far more appetising. Yes, the neighbours cat eats better than me! I've expressed my displeasure to the hooman slaves. I try and sneak out to eat the Nermsters food, but THEY swoop it away. I have taken to growling at meowmy and daddy when they do that.

I don't know how long I can take this. They only light in this dim dark tunnel is tomorrow is Saturday and it's tuna day. TUNA. Real food. Real sustenance. Not the cardboard the VET insists I eat day in and day out. I'm a real cat. Real cats have curves.

I have taken to hunting. I scour the yard seeking merciless prey. This is not an activity a well fed cat needs to do. I have begun honing my skills by playing with the pathetic toys they leave lying around the house. I shall survive! I get praise for my efforts.

The hooman's fail to realise that I am the best designed killer on the planet. Once I have perfected my skills.... No more "Lucy! You are actually playing!" "Look at Lucy run!" "Lucy, do you want to play more?" How degrading. I am a huntress. I shall survive!

I feel faint. I need food. A big bowl of yummy tuna. I lovely chewy chicken neck or wing. Some raw mince... anything, even a huge bowl of those horrible lumpies.

The hooman's are torturing me. They continue to eat the delicious food around me. They make silly placating noises at me as I sit there watching. Just feed me, I send my thought control messages. Feed me! Daddy goes to cave in, but that mean meowmy glares at him.

"Just a small bit," says daddy. Yes, I say, feed me. You can do it.

"No. You aren't being kind, you are being cruel!" says meowmy as she shovels more food in her mouth.

The only positive aspect to this whole torture thing is that Nermie (aka Flash) is also suffering. Meowmy won't feed him unless I have food. She says "You can always go home and get more food"

Maybe I should go visit Nermie's house, if I could make it that far....

Meowmy had been nagging daddy about the amount of 'treats' I get. I noticed some disappeared. It was sad, it has been so nice doing big eyes at daddy and getting results.

Nice Shelly wasn't there to weigh me today. It was some male nurse. It must be all his fault! I always show a loss when Shelly weighs me.

Up 600gms. It doesn't sound much but it is gigantic! Over 9 kilos, again :(

If that wasn't bad enough I then heard talk about no more tuna! I'll die! Then the bad nurse held up this tiny intsy bitsy weeny jar ***pee jar*** and said no more than 2 of those of cat food a day!

I really don't know if I like winter or not. Maybe if I list out the pros and cons it will help.

Pro:
* I can curl up and sleep without over heating
* The days are usually warm enough for me to sleep in the sun

What do I say? I am most displeased that Nermal wants to live with me. As a quick reminder Nermal is actually Flash, the cat from down the street. Nermal comes over as he has 2 woofers, another meow, and 2 small two footers at his house and it is too hectic for him. He likes my house and my food :(

Nermal hung around for weeks and weeks. Never going home. Meowmy was convinced he had moved in and his meowmy had given up on him. Then one day he was gone. He didn't come back for days! Heaven!

I blossomed and took back my deck and yard. I was kinder to Oscar from next door. I was cuddled up to meowmy on the couch. I was one happy kitty.

Daddy was concerned and went and checked Nermal/Flash was at his proper home. Yep, he was there. Everyone was happy. Nermal safe and well fed and I had my home back.

Then he showed. AGAIN! :(

He has been hanging around trying to act like he lived with me. He NEVER seems to go home. Then meowmy did the nicest thing she has ever done for me. She took Nermal home.

Meowmy loves me. I'm her one and only kitty. I don't have to share. Happy days are here again.

Meowmy says Nermals mum and dad love him and look after him so he needs to go home. Happy days are here again.

I have been sooooo busy I haven't had a chance to write an entry. 'Andad's been visiting. 'Andad is dads dad and he needs me to look after him. I hadn't seen such an old hooman before. He has lots of wrinkles and walks with a shuffle.

I was a bit cautious at first, but then I realised he likes to sit on my deck, also. That was it. Best buddies and I had another job. When I'm not outside with him, I have to look after his bed. A cat has to make sure all beds are comfortable to sleep in.

Meowmy says I'm not allowed to trip him over, so I have to be careful when I move around him. Apparently most kitties would move when a hooman bumps into them, but they just fall over me!

On top of that dad's been on holidays. More work keeping him amused. It is so tiring looking pathetic to ask for food all the time. All that pulling big eyes, pathetic meows and so forth. It takes it out of a cat. Thank goodness he goes back to work next week, I'll be able to catch up on my beauty sleep.

You would think that would be enough. But no. Nermal (AKA Flash) has decided he is moving in. I was sure meowmy would say no - she loves me best, but she has been saying she is going to have to do that embarrassing walk down to Flash's folks and ask if he has been 'home at all'. She thinks not. If he has switched houses she wants to know about his shots, age, desexing etc. Hmmmph! I'm not happy!

So that is why I haven't updated on Catster Diary... far too busy with the hoomans and Nermal.

I found him! He wasn't anywhere in the house or the yard, but he finally showed up today. Wow! Dad has NEVER been away that long. I was sleeping around the house, refusing to get my paws wet, when the door opened. There he was! Bags in hand! Yippeee! He put his bags in the room and he gave me TUNA! Yummie! That Nermal cat was there also and dad gavehim some also.

Meowmy came home real soon after, even better. I was begining to think they were going to be washed away. It has been raining and raining for a few days now. I've never seen so much water at once, not even in those big storms we had earlier this year. Last night I didn't even want to go outside to play. The drive way is a stream, the yard is full of puddles.

It has rained so much that water has flooded over the gutters and run down one of the walls. Meowmy said luckily its in the room that needs to be fully renovated (why did daddy shudder at that word?).

Everytime I see Nermal his fluffy fur is wet. Meowmy lets him come in and get out of the rain, which is nice. She does wonder why he won't go home and stay dry.

Meowmy says the rain is going to continue for days. I'm glad I've got my back deck as at least I can find a dry spot outside instead of going stir crazy inside.

Life is damply back to normal - meowmy is home, daddy has been found, I'm curled up ready to sleep on the bed. Nice.

This week has been an odd week. Daddy has been missing the WHOLE week and today is Saturday and he still hasn't shown up. I spent this morning searching the whole back yard looking for him. He wasn't in the swinging chair (it moved when I jumped up!), or under the car or the caravan. He wasn't behind the shed, or in the trees or under the deck. I even checked out the guinea pig cages... Hmmmm.

It has also been the first week of cold nights. It got down to 10C (50F), well below what it should. I surprised meowmy by jumping up on the couch and sitting right up against her. It is the closest I have ever voluntarily got to sitting in her lap. She was absolutely thrilled! Silly woman, Iwas just using her as a heater!

With daddy missing in action, there has been positives. I have had lots of room on his side of the bed. Nice and cosy and warm with meowmy. The flannel sheets are on, how nice.

Meowmy also ran out of my special diet food. I've been having REAL food. Chicken and tuna and tins.... Meowmy says that ends today as she is going to go to get my proper food. I told her she didn't have to rush.

Also, Nermal, my friend from down the street, appears to want to move in. He is always hanging around for a cuddle and a feed. He gets my leftovers. Meowmy says he is going to be one chubby kitty the way he eats! Anyway, with daddy away meowmy hasn't been feeding him as much so he actually has gone to visit his own meowmy. I'm not sure what to make of that. I'm glad he is my furriend but do I want him to become my brofur?

I have to go and search more for daddy, well maybe a snooze in the sun first. Meowmy doesn't appear too worried.

Where oh where oh where could he be? ZZZzzzzzz...

Hi everyfur.

I haven't had a chance to chat much lately so meowmy has let me update my diary. I have been discovering all new fun things to do. Things a year ago I would never have done.

One of my favourite games is one lots of cats are use to - follow me. I love playing with daddy. Either I follow him around or I make him follow me around. It's a great game.

This week I started a new game with meowmy. I have always been helpful around the house. This week I really became helpful as meowmy had the week off work. When she swept the kitchen, I layed in the middle. I then played with the mop as she wiggled it around for me. I helped her sweep and dust and do all the housework. It was such fun!

Boy! I don't know why hooman's whinge about housework, I love it! I could play all day! It is great having all this energy. Oh, I have to run, I have to go and watch cat TV (Guinea pigs in their cages).....

I have spent the weekend trying to keep meowmy company but she wouldn't even respond to cute cat poses or requests for for food! Can you believe it? Ignoring me!

The nights are getting longer so I have been spoiling meowmy by letting her sleep a lot more, well no more! I demand to be noticed!

Despite the lack of attention, somehow she has continued on her flashy thing kick. I'm sure my retina's are burnt out! Daddy says I am positively look slim in some positions!

I think every cat on Catster knows about the flashy thing. Meowmy or Dah com up with a little box, flash a light in your face (usually at the most inconvenient time) and make funny noises!

Well, meowmy has been having fun using it on me, again. My question is does anyone know if that flashy thing is harmful? I mean it can't be good to be blasted by that much light so often! I was sure I was going to go blind yet meowmy kept saying 'open your eyes!' Maybe it causes a tumour! MOL!

Anyway, I was trying to sleep - flash, flash, flash.
Trying to have a bath - flash, flash, flash.
Decided to check out the garden - flash, flash, flash.
Tried to run up a tree for a scratch - video!

All I can say is that hoomans are strange when they have a flashy thing in hand.

I guess the most positive aspect is that I finally had my main picture changed! That is moi! As of yesterday! I think I look particularly fetching!

Wow! I got daily diary pick yesterday! How exciting! Thank you to my furriends for the rosettes!

Mummy loves it. She took a snapshot of the page to keep furrever! I've been honoured twice now :)

Mummy says I've been furry good! I kept her company whilst daddy went on a trip. Technically overseas - Norfolk Island. Not quite Australia but almost. I slept with on the bed with her and made sure she had plenty to do at night, getting her up to keep me company - lots.

Nermal, my furriend from down the street, thought it was a great game and came and joined me. Whilst I went outside to play he kept mummy busy by sneaking inside. Over and over. MOL! It was three o'clock in the morning and a great time to play!

When daddy came home it was great. He stayed the whole day with me and mummy came home early. Fun! The tree cat helped keep the fun going by sneaking in an open window, again around three o'clock in the morning. Mummy and daddy had fun playing chaseys around the house with the tree cat. Finally the tree cat went out my window.

Everything is back to normal now. I'm glad. It was all fun but a cat has to get her sleep.....

Weekends are the best time of the week as the hooman's are here...except last weekend. I didn't tell you what they did. I should have known something was up when I walked into the kitchen very early on Saturday morning and mummy had FILLED my lumpy bowl with food. FILLLED. Do you know what that is like for a kitty on a dieT? It is like discovering treasure!

I went to eat and mummy - YES mummy - said to dad. "Maybe Lucy can have breakfast tuna blah blah blah." I wasn't interested in anything after TUNA word. I went to daddy and did the biggest smooch on his leg and he gave me a big plateful! More than I ever get.

Now, I must admit that the penny should have dropped. Treaty and lumpys to my hearts content. But it didn't.

"Bye bye Lucy". Mum, dad and the cousins left. They ALL left together. In the same car. That should have been another hint.

I wasn't too worried. Went about sleeping, eating, playing with my furriends. Even invited Nermal in for a snack. I'm a generous kitty with such a bountiful lot of food. It got dark. No one came home. I sat around patiently. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. No one came home!

Bitey the tree cat came in and cleaned up my food. No one came home. Bitey found some 'chocolate'. She wasn't too impressed but ate one just to teach the hooman's a lesson.

The sun came up. Still no one. I am not very impressed by this time. Still waiting and waiting. I had to sleep as I was so weak from lack of sustinance. Still waiting.

It was almost the end of another day. Finally, they were home. "Where have you been?" I demanded as they all came in the door. They stepped over Bitey's handy work. Mummy found the half eaten chocolate. I followed them to the kitchen. "Feed me!" So what do they do? I'm fainting from hunger and they all cuddle me! Yick!

But then, tuna, lumpy's and more cuddles. It was good to know they hadn't abandoned me! But boy are they paying for neglecting me!

I am not an Irish Cat and I don't live with an Irish family, yet St Paddy's day is a special day. Mr Skins was rescued by Daddy and Aunty P when she was so young her eyes were closed. She was fed with an eye dropper and everything. Can you imagine that!

21 years ago Mr Skins gave birth to 4 kittens on my mummy's bed. They were intial called 1,2,3 and 4 as mummy was determined not to get attached to any of them and give them away to good homes.

1 AKA James Tiberius Majellan AKA Chookie was the only boy. He went to live with Aunty P and lived a happy long life with her.

2 AKA Pennelope Prudence Farthing, 3 AKA Alexandria Cleopatra Eastwood Wellington-Smythe, and 4 AKA Spinner never left until they became angels! MOL!

Catster friends will know that Mr Skins lived to the ripe old age of 20 and Princess Penny to 19. It was after they became angels that they helped mummy and daddy find me!

So, St Patrick's day is a special day because it brings mummy memories of holding Mr Skins paw on the bed whilst the kittens were born. Penny was a difficult kitten from birth and daddy had to help remove her sac and give her mouth to mouth as Mr Skins was too busy with Majellan! Wow! Daddy is so kind to kitties!

When I hear that story I know I'll be spoilt like I deserve furever! Even if they do abandon me for a weekend, but that is another story!

Daddy refused to take me to the VET for a weigh-in. He was so ashamed of caving in to my gorgeous golden eyes. He was convinced that I had PUT ON weight. He also hates me crying all the way to the VET and all the way home. So the dreaded task was left to mum.

I had had a tough night last night. Cousin accidently locked me out for the night. Mummy realised at 4 am and came to my rescue, fed me with a gentle reminder of the up-coming weigh-in. I ate and I went to sleep on the other cousin's bed.

I slept and slept. In fact I was still asleep when daddy came and woke me and shoved me in the torture box (cat cage). I cried. Daddy carried me out to the car. I cried. He put me in the car. I cried. He put the seatbelt around the cage. I cried. I stuck my paw between the bars begging to get out. I cried. He closed the car door. I cried. Mum backed out of the drive. I cried.

Daddy out of sight - I curled up and spoke a few times to mummy only. She was really good. She spoke to me the whole way to the VET. It was nice and calming so I didn't cry much. At the VET she cuddled me (yuck) and made sure I was feeling safe. I then was called in....

Mummy pulled me out of the cage. I was put on the scales. I was so scared I was shaking, but I didn't wiggle and jiggle. The scales bounced around and around. Finally the verdict. 8.810KG. A loss. A little loss. I was 8.96 last time. What a relief!

Mummy said I was a good cat and gave me a cuddle. It could have been better so she said I wasn't allowed to give daddy the big eye treatment if I continued to want to lose weight. What? This dieT thing wasn't my idea in the first place.

Then it was hometime. I only cried one or twice because I didn't want to go into the car again. We drove home - no crying. We drove into the yard - HOME. Mummy stopped and opened the cat cage and I was able to stretch. I asked to be let out. Mummy came around and opened the door and I was free!

Straight under my deck to recover from the ordeal.

Oh! I still rule - weight loss EVERY weigh-in. I'm the best cat at the weight loss clinic! Lucy Rules!

We have been having quite a bit of rain lately. The yard is lovely and green and the grass is growing very long. The guinea pigs love it as they have lots and lots of extra stuff to eat. Daddy isn't so happy as it means mowing the lawn.

As long as I can remember it hasn't rained this much. Something about a "drought". This is more like it is meant to be, raining regularly in the evenings during summer.

I don't know about this rain in summer. It makes it hot and sticky and my moulting fur doesn't want to leave. I love pats to remove the fur, but not the brush. Well, maybe afterwards I appreciate the lack of loose fur, but not at the time!

Rain also means that I can't go exploring around the yard. It is quite yicky getting wet fur. Not a good look! Even when it isn't raining it means I get wet paws. I can't roll around in the dirt; it isn't dirt anymore it is mud! Thank goodness for the carport! Nice dry bits under there to role around in. A girl has to have a regular dust bath to feel good!

But the rain isn't all bad. One of my most favouritest things if fresh rainwater to drink. Mummy noticed early on that I would go seeking anything that captured the rain and sit there and drink. I'm not big on a water bowl with tap water, mummy had hardly ever seen me drink from it. She says it is important for me to drink lots of water on my dieT as it is based on dry food.

I must admit it is pretty funny seeng mummy dashing out to put bowls and buckets where the rain is gathering most! she doesn't seem to mind wet fur! Mummy says it is all worth it to see me having a hearty lap of water! My favouritest drink - Rain Water!

Summer is well and truly here. The heat, the humidity, the mozzies all have hit. I'ld rather sleep in the air conditioning or out on the deck. It is even too hot to eat, a bonus when one is on the dieT.

Mummy has been sad because Scooter crossed the rainbow bridge. Scooter was a good furriend of my angel sisfurs Penny and Skinny. They are all now playing over the rainbow bridge.

Down south they have bush fires. I have never seen a bush fire and mummy says she hopes I never do. Lots of hoomans and their pets, wildlife and farm animals all have died in the bush fires. Animals that survived are going hungry as the hoomans are getting the priority for food. It doesn't sound fun at all.

There has also been a lot of talk of 'floods'. Apparently that is when it gets so we everything turns into a big pond. We don't have a 'flood' here, but further north they apparently have lots of water. This means that everyone, hoomans and animals have to have food dropped in. Some animals won't have any food as it is all under water. They are thinking themselves lucky, as all they have been able to do is sit around and watch television and the fires. Again, this doesn't sound like fun either.

I have decided I shouldn't really complain about the heat, the humidity and the dieT. Life could be a lot worse.

Can you believe I have now lived in my forever home for a year!

Weight:
My never ending saga! I started out at this weight, put on almost 2 kg and have lost it again! Hopefully by next year I will be at my goal weight, whatever that is.

Hoomans:
I live with 4 fantastic hoomans who are the best slaves a cat could have. Daddy is a sucker who cabes in at a bat of my big eyes. Mummy is the tough one and won't cabe and feed me treaty on my diet. She loves to give me cuddles (Yuck!) and keeps an eye on me to make me safe. She also sorts out my furriends who drop by and try and eat my food. Cousins are like my litter mates. They play with me, sleep with me and share toys. They also bring home other fuzzy animals such as the guinea pigs and mousies to keep me entertained.

House:
After I moved in the hooman's put on a huge deck just for me! I have somewhere to sleep and play even when it is raining! My kitty furriends are allowed to visit and talk to me there. Every cat needs their own deck.

Toys:
I have lots and lots. From my cat condo to mousies to feathers on sticks! The latest is a 'glove'. It has really long fingers with pom poms on the end of each. Daddy says it is something a really spooky clown in a horror movie would wear! It is such fun to kill!

Furriends:
Last of all I have made so many new furriends. In my neighbourhood and on Catster. It is so nice being able to play and talk to other cats. Thank you to all my Catster pals who have made this last year so much fun for moi!

okay, so I lost some weight. I boasted about it yesterday. Great news - so I thought.

Why is it that the hooman's don't tell us the bad news?

I'm going to die! I know it! I heard daddy tell mummy the bit no one told me! My food allowance has been reduced! To whom do I complain?

Strict dieT or no strict dieT a cat needs food! I had a daily allowance of 1 1/4 cup of the prescription diet and that became a breeze to cope with. Can you imagine just 1 1/4 of sustenance a day? Most of you probably accidently breath in more cat fur than that! Well it has now been reduced to 3/4 of a cup a day! That is barely a pawful! Arhhhhhh!

Daddy went to give treaty - I was giving him the sad eye and the leg rub treatment - and mummy said that would be the end of my food for the day! No way! I do most of my eating at night!

Must find ways of getting more food......

Yesterday was the day. Time for reckoning after the silly season and success with big eyes on daddy.

Daddy took me again and I thought cousin was going with me. She only came part of the way. I don't like it when no one holds my paw in th car so I cried and cried and cried on daddy (MOL! I'm sure he didn't enjoy that either!).

Shelly, the vet nurse, weighed me again. 8.96kg (19.7 pounds)!!!! A loss, not as big as previously but still a loss. I'm around the weight when I moved in.

:( Mummy suggested to daddy that a few less treaties might get me back on to my regular weight loss cycle. Mummy is a meanie! Meanie mummy!

I'll punish her, somehow somewhere. However, for now I'll sleep on my revenge....

Yes, life is back to routine. The hoomans have all returned to doing whatever it is they do when they leave the house. Geez, it does take a long time!

Me, I'm back to sleeping during the day. For a few days I tried to get cousins to feed me when mummy and daddy were gone, but no, they wouldn't cave.

I've been trying to get daddy to give me treats every day. Mean mummy has said no (but daddy is a softy). Mummy is worried that daddy's lack of control will show at next weigh in.

The weather hasn't been too bad. A few stinking hot days but being able to flop on my deck means I can escape the heat.

Life hasn't been that exciting, a bit of a let down after all the fun of the past month. Routine does have benefits, but it sure is a let down after party season!

I feel so spoilt. First there was Catmas. Mummy let daddy give me nice treats! Ham and turkey. Mummy went away and daddy spoilt me by continuing the treats for dinner. Then there was something called New Years. Again, daddy spoilt me with treats. Then a few days later it was my birthday. Spoilt again!

Along with all the fun and games with these events I recived a whole pile of posties from my pen paw pals! Thank you all they are so special! Mummy will place them all in a fantasmagorical scrap book album she has specially for me!

Then, I received all these wonderful rosettes for my birthday! Thank you all furry much! I am so thrilled. Seven is a big milestone! According to the standard cat food companies I am now officially an older cat. Clearly they haven't met the wonderful Olde Furts here on catster! MOL! Seven is just a kitten compared to some. My good friend Scooter is now 20 like my angel sisfur Mr Skins was before she crossed the rainbow (Scootie is going to live fur years and years more I hope)!

Then, the biggest surprise I ever received was a special postie from my good friend Sissy and her family. It was slightly delayed (thank you Aussie Quarantine! ) but I received a couple of lovely balls and a toy mouse! Apparently there were some fantastic treaties which were confiscated by the officials :(

I am so use to special treats that I keep wanting them. Mummy is a meanie and saying that I should be back on a strict diet. That's no fun!

Must plan way of batting big yellow eyes at daddy to get nummy Treats everyday!

Mummy has been packing her suitcase. Mummy, not daddy. It's dad who goes away. I won't panic. Dad has been a real push over with treats lately. Ham, turkey, sardines, and tuna everytime I give him the big eyed look. I'll just have to keep it up.

Mummy said she is going to visit Nöpö, my cousin. His name is really Ralph and he is a rag doll cat. He is the only cat I know with a real job. He looks after my uncle who had a stroke. His job is to help look after uncle and keep him company. Uncle can't remember things too well so needs someone to look after him.

I will miss mummy. She does real nice things such as let me out in the middle of the night, feed me and make sure I can get back in. She also keeps the tree cats away and is nice to my furriends. Mummy also helps me keep in touch on Catster so while mummy is away I won't be able to chat to anyone :(

I wonder if I can bat my gorgeous eyes at daddy to help me...

It's catmouse here in the land of Oz. It must be a special day because mum and dad are at home, instead of disappearing as they do to something called 'work'. I also have received extra treat despite my dieT.

This morning I was asleep on the bed with mum and dad. Mummy got up and came in with a basket of packages all wrapped up pretty. She handed two to me, some to dad and kept some herself (is that fair?) Anyway, one smelt real nice. Then mummy helped me pull the paper off. Wow! my own squeeking mouse! It's so cute I let it sit on my paws!. Then mummy opened the other present. A book on Cattitude from cousin. Mummy read it to me. It was real cool!

Cousin and cousin were sent home for catmouse so it is just the three of us + Bailey + Pepito/Diego/FlameZor/Toshiba photocopier/Tomika (the guinea pigs folks).

I hope all you kitty kats received wonderful Catmouse presents and/or treats.

Wow, something about this time of the year, more hoomans seem to drift by.

Take last weekend, I'm dozing comfortably on my deck, mummy is running around madly in the kitchen and lounge room trying to tidy the house (very unusual!). Next thing I know my space is being invaded by 4 more hooman's.

Now, if that isn't bad enough, they all wanted to pat me or pick me up. Strangers. Of course, they usually leave after a few hours so I just need to make myself scarce - these didn't. They stayed 3 whole sleeps! People to step around and fuss over. I was not impressed.

Summer has well and truely hit. It has been steamy hot all day and the evening rain is about to hit. I can't wait! The severe storms have settled down to normal summer storms.

Meowmy says a lot of my kitty friends are busily trying to keep warm - how odd. Meowmy must be a bit loopy. I have been spending the nights with meowmy and daddy in the air con - cool breeze and the humidity sucked out of the air.

The day is the challenge. I have a few choices, but my favourite is out on the back deck. It is deep enough so the sun doesn't hit and there is a breeze. I lie on my back under the table letting the breeze hit my tummy, or lying on the timber with the breeze swirling around me.

It also means I can watch the birdies in the trees and cat TV. My neighbourhood furriends can also come and see me.

Once the rain hits, the humidity seems to disappear and the evening seems cool for awhile. Then I can sit out there and watch the tree cats as they run around.

Of course, it is better when meowmy and daddy sit out there, it means the ceiling fan is on and those pesty mozzies are kept at bay.

That says about it all. We have been having rain and nasty storms since Sunday and more are due through the weekend. After years of drought mother nature has decided to make up for some lost time /rain.

Storms aren't unusual at this time of year, but the severity and the volumes of rain are!

I've been spending my time sleeping, and eating (only what I'm allowed). Thank goodness for my deck as it means I'm not stuck inside. I have been going out and sleeping there getting fresh air without getting wet. Despite the rain the weather is hot and the humidity is uncomfortable so sleeping in the shade outside is a bonus!

The thunder is rumbling and the TV reception is breaking up. This evenings storms have almost reached us. Mummy says we'll have to switch the 'puter off soon incase of a lightening strike.

We have been lucky with no damage or flooding, but lots of other Brisvegas kitties haven't been so lucky. The RSPCA is very busy looking after lost pets and pets whose homes are too damaged to live in.

There is much written about the topic of sleeping cats on Catster. The reason clearly is that we all do love to snooze. What do those hoomans say? Cats sleep at least 16 hours a day.

Is that all? I'm sure I'm closer to 20! Yes, even as I have the hooman type this for me, I'm dozing on the deck near her. Using the mind control techniques that we felines have perfected, I can write whilst appearing to all intent and purpose to be asleep!

Snoozing isn't as easy as hoomans seem to think it is for us cats. First, there is the need to find that right spot. It has to be carefully chosen. Some cats like to be out of the way, in a quiet spot. Not me! Middle of the bed, middle of the floor, dad's favourite chair - often where it causes the most inconvenience. I may be sleeping but I don't want to be ignored!

Then there is the position to sleep in. This choice is influenced by many environmental factors such as temperature and the surface we have selected for a nap. Hooman laps, for kitties who like that sort of thing, seem to dictate the curled up approach. The floor and the bed permit that full length stretch...

Whilst asleep there is the choice of facial expressions. Do we freak the hoomans out with the eyes open but the inner lid closed, do we drool, do we do that freaky mouth tic thing....

Of course, because we are so good at snoozing, we are also good at waking up. I don't tramp around looking like a zombie when I get up, unlike some of the said hoomans! Us cats just bounce awake and are ready to go usually. I've never seen a hooman go from fast asleep to jumping 10 feet in the air in the space of 2 seconds. That takes skill!

That's enough mind control, I've got to get back to zzzzzzzzzzzz.......

It was today. Mummy and daddy kept it quiet. One moment I'm climbing on cousin's bed for a nap, next dad is scooping me up into the portable cat jail!

OMC! I began to cry. Mummy said hello to me. She came with me. Daddy drove and I sat in the jail with mummy stroking me. We went to the V.E.Ts.

I sat in the weighting room with all the other cats. Thank goodness it is kitties only! "Lucy" they called. The vet nurse talked to mum and dad, something about my doing so well.

Then the scales. Big white scales. Mummy told me to sit still so they could weigh me properly. The numbers were bouncing everywhere. 9.63 kg (21.2 pounds)! I have lost another 200g (0.44lbs). The vet nurse was so pleased. Mummy was so pleased. I just wanted to go home!

Shelly, the vet nurse said I'm losing weight at the ideal rate. They worry about liver failure if I lose too fast. If my weight loss slows down too much they will reduce my food further. To what? Thin air?

I crave variety. I've started begging from mummy when she cooks dinner. I do puss-'n-boot eyes. I do roll and show my tummy. I do leg rubs, I do the leg scratch of death! All I get is barely a mouthful!

On a positive note I'm home and mummy officially changed my weight to 21 pounds on Catster! She refused to do that last time as she said I was closer to 22 pounds!

Wait until I tell Oscar! Lucy Slim Caboosy is making a comeback. Watchout world.

Earlier this week I was flattered with being a daily diary pick! Thank you to those who sent me concatulations. I did have mixed feelings about being DDP for an entry entitled "Bottom", but I decided that it was a well deserved reward for recent efforts. It is amazing how energetic I'm becoming as the weight slides off. However that is nothing to do with todays entry.

Mummy was excited as that day was full of excitement at our place. Guinea pig Pepito gave birth to piglets, currently know as Down-Down, Ho-Ho, and Yuck-Yuck due to the fact that their father is also their half brother and their uncle is also their grandfather.....

Note to cousin: male and female guinea pigs need to be separated BEFORE 4 weeks of age......

I also discovered a new furriend. Yes, my buddy Oscar is always around but a new kitty came to visit. Very cute, very playful and I didn't mind him coming and playing on my deck. Oscar is not permitted on MY deck! Now, I just need an introduction....

Yes, not the most delicate title for an entry but I'm so pround I have one. Not only do I have one, I have one I can clean!!!!

Mummy and daddy don't have to use the baby wipes on me anymore. I don't have little chocolate pebbles stuck in my fur down there.

The other day mummy looked at me while I was having my bath and noticed that I didn't have an overhang.

Yes, weight loss has reducd the excess enough so I can finally reach my bottom!

I can shake my booty at Oscar next door and not have those smelly bits any more. I can lie on my back and show my gorgeous tummy spot to the heavens, without the addition of brown smeared fur!

I think I'm enjoying the slightly slimmer self! Next goal, the 8kg's (17 pounds) the vet envisioned for me at the start.

Purrs and whisker kisses everyone. From the Lucy not so fat Caboosy!

Spring has sprung here in Oz. What goes with a cat and Spring? Shedding.

Although I have short fur, it is quite thick. And white.

I have my favourite chair on the deck which I let daddy use from time to time. Mummy zoom groom's me when I'm sitting in it. She shows me what she is doing by showing the fur that she is removing. How can she brush that much fur out without my becoming bald? It truely is one of the great mysteries of the world.

Whilst I was rolling around in the dirt, daddy went to sit in the chair. Mummy suggested he zoom groom the chair first. Boy! Was there a lot of fur stuck to the chair! MOL! Of course when he moved off I was back up there. It was so nice without all that fur!

Another favourite pass time whilst shedding is rubbing up against the hoomans before they go to work. Dark trousers are my favourite! Yes, seeing them walk out the door with a white fluffy tide mark is so satisfying.

Of course, letting them pick me up for a cuddle works even better! Dark shirts with white furry bibs are so stylish!

Then we all must remember our feathered food, sorry friends. The floating fur I leave behind as I stroll around the yard is ideal for their nests. Is that nature's way of balancing out our occassional politically incorrect snack? MOL!

I think I'll curl up on my chair and snooze on that thought.

Today I was taken to the VET to face the scales. Daddy took the day off work so it as a big deal. He popped me in the cat carrier, not an easy task as I just squeeze in. It isn't as tight as it use to be, though.

At the vet the scales waited. Yippee! down to 9.83 kilos (21.6 pounds). A loss! I felt so proud of myself! Daddy sent mummy a text message at work! Fantastic, she sent back.

So slim! So svelt! I'm so proud! Mummy gave me a big hug and cuddle when she got home. Yes, I let her.

Next time I have to see the weight specialist incase my diet needs to be adjusted. Please, let me have something different! I like dry food but it is getting a bit dull. It has been worth it though!

It is getting close. The time that every girl dreads. Mummy and daddy tell me to be brave. But I can't help it. My heart races. What will happen? Yes, I'm talking about getting on the scales again.

Everyone says they are sure I have lost weight, but have I? Does perception match reality. Start of the month. The start of the month is on Wednesday. That is when I find out th awful truth. And you know what makes it even worse? Knowing mummy will type up my weight progress on Catster for all of you to read!

I'm coping. I'm rolling around having dirt baths. Relaxing. I'm catching my sun rays (mummy wants to put sun tan lotion on me so I don't get skin cancer - does she think I'm a whimp or something!!!). I'm lounging on my deck.

Mummy calls me Lucilla, Queen of the Deck. I love sitting on the deck with mum and dad. Daddy thinks Lucy von Flousy is more appropriate! Something to do with lying around on my back in the dirt and gutters I think....

Anyway. Must get back to sleeping. Can't waste the day on Catster.

This week has been absolutely fantasmagorical for me.
1) Mummy and daddy came home from a holiday! They love me, they came back! Having been at the RSPCA for a few months I get a little bit insecure when my hooman's disappear. They just left one day and I thought they were gone. Then a week later the front door opened and there they were! I leapt half way across the room of cousins bed I was so excited!

2) Brusselball arrived! The travelling Brusselball has made it to Australia! It is such fun. It arrived whilst mummy and daddy were away so cousin and cousin opened it for me. It was so exciting! The smells, the toys, the postcards! MOL!

3)Weight loss at last! 22 pounds (10.11kg!)! I know it sounds gianormous but it means I have lost a whole pound since the 16th! Everyone was so happy and excited for me! I got lots of pats and cuddles and everyone said what a good girl I was! I'm doing a happy dance!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I had such a fun morning and it isn't even yet 9am! I did my normally waking mummy up a trillion times and then I thought I would let her have a little snooze. I went outside to have a good prowl around as dawn broke, my favourite time to do a scout of the territory.

And then I saw it! A gorgeous, juicy big grasshopper! It was such fun catching that big hopper. Of course I had to show of my prize catch so I took it in.

Mummy is so good. She could here me jumping around and knew immediately that I had once more proven my prowess as a member of the most efficient killers of the world. She climbed out of bed, again and saw me sitting in the hall with my catch.

"Good, Lucy!" she said and gave me a big pat.

"That's a wonderful grasshopper!" She knows I'm a fantastic hunter.

As my prey tried to escape mum and I followed. She picked it up (she doesn't get scared by bugs and things, cool!) and checked out my catch.

"You enjoy your grasshopper," she said! Oh goody! I was allowed to play with it and eat it. She showed me she still had it and took me outside onto the deck with my grasshopper. "Have a good play!"

And I did. I lept and jumped and chased that nasty 'hopper until it disappeared in my tummy. Then, satisfied with everything, I snuck back in and curled up on the bed with mummy and daddy and went to sleep.

A perfect morning.

Or that is what I tell mummy in the middle of the night! MOL!

The best bit about being on the diet is that I love food so much that I don't care what I eat as long as I am eating! So it's bland and repetitive but as long as my tummy is full I'm happy.

Everyone is most impressed with me as I'm not scoffing back my allowance, there is some even left each day! Mummy knows I like lots of little meals so she has divided up my allowance in up to 5 different serves during the day. I like them at 6pm, 9 pm, 12 midnight, 3 am and 6 am! Oh, in between I like mummy letting me out. It's even more fun because it's so COLD! MOL!

All is going better than expected, as long as I can tolerate the same food day in and day out!

I'm so depressed. My closest friends might notice I've updated my weight on my page. Not down as I was hoping, but UP! Can you believe it! Strict meal controls and my weight is way up!

Daddy took me to the VET yesterday. My bottom has been, well, frankly, very on the nose and appropriately discoloured. When mummy used the baby wipes I complained more than normal and she thought she saw a sore! Thank god there wasn't one but the VET wasn't happy with my weight.

I'm officially on a radical weight loss plan under vet supervision. Daddy said if I thought I was doing it tough before, just wait. I didn't get any of my favourite food last night, just the yicky stuff from the vet.

Daddy said I'm bound to lose weight as I'm not eating now.

Today has been a lovely day. I woke mummy nice and early to go out. It was quite cold so she really appreciated letting me out. I then snuck back in decided to wake her again, a few times just as she dropped off again.

Then after breakfast, I went outside to enjoy the winter sun. That was nice, but mummy and daddy headed out so I headed back to bed. When they came home, back out in the sun. Soooo nice and warm!

Mummy and Daddy decided Diego couldn't live in the cat carrier so they had bought the stuff for to build him a hutch. MOL! A pity they aren't very handy. I had fun lying in the sun watching bruise fingers and the like! It took hours to stick a few pieces of timber together and add some chicken wire.

It so much fun when the human's are home to entertain me. And best of all - I now have 2 boxes to watch!

Oscar and I have a new hobby. It's called watching the box. Not the TV box, but guinea pig box. We call it guinea pig TV. We take turns of sitting in the sun and watching the 2 guinea pigs play.

Guess what - today there were 3! Pepito and Diego were meant to be girls - she didn't double check. Hence Pepito is now a mother and Diego and father/uncle (oh dear!).

Nature does have a way of balancing out things, deaths and births in the family....

My dieT is still going on. Mum is still really strict with me, but it is getting easier. As daddy isn't falling for my big yellow eyes all the time so I can get an occassional sanctioned snack.

Tell me what I have done wrong? Mummy has me locked in the bedroom with her and tells me I've done a really bad thing. Cousin is crying in her room. Daddy even said I was bad.

What did I do? I've been really playful and a bit hungry with this diet thing. They all think it is so cute when I catch a lizard or something... So just because I hunted anothe little snack....

Okay, so it was Hamish mouse.... Cousin was trying to entice him out of his cage to run around in his mouse ball. She left the lid open and left the room. Tell me, what is a hungry cat to do?

Mistake 1: Dad saw me. He confiscated Hamish
Mistake 2: Cousin tried to rescue Hamish. Too late.

I'm a cat, he is a mouse.

By everyone's reaction it seems I shouldn't have given way to instinct.

Mummy said Hamish is going to be buried with Skinny & Penny. Those lucky angel kitties!

I haven't had dry lumpies since Sunday. It is now Saturday. I think I have got over the shakey stage but I still crave them.

Those silly hoomans keep saying I look as if I've lost weight. Who do they think they are fooling? If they thought I was skinny I would be eating lumpies!

My big sad eyed look seems to still work on daddy but he checks with mummy before giving me food. Mummy seems immune to the big sad eyed look. I must find her weakness....

Oh my! Mummy is serious about this diet thing. She told daddy off when he asked to give me a snack outside meal times. She found some pictures of cats who weren't able to clean themselves and showed them to daddy. He now understands why mummy is serious.

Last night was hard. I rubbed up against daddy, I meowed at daddy, I followed him around. He didn't cave! He made me wait to a designated meal time! I'm going to starve.

Today wasn't as difficult. I got breakfast. When mummy got home she gave me dinner. Daddy came home I begged (that was when the pictures came out), but he was allowed to give me a spoonful of tinned food - apparently she didn't give me my full breakfast this morning. I didn't even notice!

Maybe this diet thing won't be as bad as I thought....

Oh no, mummy has said that it a serious issue. I have to lose weight! Ahhhhhhhhhhh! She knows it isn't easy as she is in the same boat, however, she thinks I'm in more desperate straights than she is!

How dare she imply I'm fatter than she is? I have lovely curves. I'm big boned! I'm so soft and cuddly to touch....

Okay (Lucy blushes terribly) I'm too round to reach you know where to clean you know what. Mummy and daddy had to wipe and clip me to get me clean and they have to do it more often. Oh the shame of it all!

Mummy is busy investigating ways of encouraging my weight loss. Bulk with little calories or quality and small serves? She is torn. What is wrong with bulk and quality? I LOVE MY FOOD....

OMC! It has come, well at least for the mornings. It is COLD! I know all you northern hemisphere kitties are enjoying the summer, but think of all us southern hemisphere kitties freezing our tails off!

In my part of the world single digit mornings are about as cold as it gets. Thankfully the days are sunny and in the low 20's (C). Yes, I know it isn't that bad, it may even be warmer than some other kitties summers, but that isn't the point. I"m use to warmth! (Daddy was in Tasmania for the week and mummy said that place is really cold. His days were like our nights here - poor daddy!)

I love spending my time out on the back deck, but even I'm not stupid enough to go outside for long in this weather. I sneak out for a half hour here and there and then am back in the comfort of indoors.

On the plus side, the days aren't cold. So it means on the weekend mummy will sit out with me on the deck in the sun.... Fantastic!

Last weekend mummy and I did that for hours! Morning sun, sooooo warm. I almost forgot I didn't like sitting on laps and actually put my paws up on mummies lap to jump up. Caught myself just in time and jumped up on the spare chair next to her instead. She wasn't fooled, but didn't push the point. Instead she, as always, she has been giving me lots of cuddles and attention when I climb on furniture near her.

Life is goooooood

The builders are gone! I managed to claim the deck as mine! no, not from the hoomans but from all the other kitties. Pitty the possums seem to fail to understand that it is all mine but they will learn.

I love sleeping on the deck. There are so many great places to sleep. Mummy pulled out a basket I refused to use inside and it is absolutely terrific! Its round and there is a furry blanket for me to cuddle in. There are comfy chairs for me to sleep on. I have room to stretch!

I make the hoomans come to me now. I don't want to go inside unless it is raining a lot (the drought finally looks like it may be breaking!). It hasn't been that cold that I can't sleep outside at night. I'ld rather sleep on the deck than inside.

Oh! the best bit? There is a hooman feast called a Bar-B-Que! OOOOOOOH! Yummy! And it's held on the deck!

Most of you kitties out there wouldn't know about mummy's dream of a back deck. It took on mythical proportions. People would say to her "How are the renno's going?" She would say "slowly. Just saving for my deck." then it moved to "Just saving for my mythical back deck...." It was monotonous. Fortunately for me I wasn't around for the apparent years and years and years as this myth developed. (or maybe unfortunately!)

Anyway... guess what? The myth is becoming a reality! Now she says "it's underway!" People just don't know how to respond to that.

I love the not so mythical deck. I've been named site forman. I help by checking out the progress everyday. The deck part is almost complete and I have been helping mum and dad sit outside. The timber has been laid, mostly. It's gi-normaous!

I can climb on the deck...
I can walk around the deck...
I can sneak under the deck!

It's such fun. And guess what! To go outside I don't have to go down through the old dingy laundry anymore - in fact, at the moment there is no laundry!

Mummy says something about some privacy screens and a roof.... ummm I have to think about that. Even Oscar thinks what we have is pretty cool at the moment. He has been helping with the supervision! Mummy says soon I'll have company outside even though it's winter! Yay!

The rules for this game are:-

Name 4 jobs that you have had

Name places you have lived

Name places you would rather be

Name 4 friends to tag and send them a pawmail directing them to your diary page.

Here goes:
4 jobs:
- covering mummy in fur before she goes to work so everyone knows she has a mainly white kitty
- decorating the lounge - it adds such class with a cat draped around
- squishing daddy in bed - mummy said that she spent almost 20 years being squished by the last cats so she assigned this job to me. It is fun making sure daddy can't stretch his legs or turn etc. I'm really good at this one.
- keeping all the neighbourhood cats out of the house. They are all use to visiting and eating the food - my angel sisfurs were too old to worry but I loooove my food!

4 places I've lived:
- my favouritist place is my furever home! Here! and I ain't moving nowhere's ever again
- RSPCA :( before coming to my furever home. Nice looking after me but not enough attention
- hisssss my previous home - they dumped me just because they were moving... we aren't disposable!
- my mumma cats tummy!

Places I would rather be:
I love my home and I would rather be here than anywhere. Where would I rather be?
- On my back deck snoozing in the sun. Another week to wait for that one...
- Climbing a tree in the yard.... jungle cat attack!
- My head in a food bowl - a figure to maintain

4 furriends:
Missy - http://www.catster.com/cats/781496 one of my newest furriends.
Lucy - http://www.catster.com/cats/698462 - sweetie we need you to tell us all about your gorgeous self!
Lucy - http://www.catster.com/cats/566057 - another gorgeous kitty
Lucy Lu - http://www.catster.com/cats/80564 - such a fantastic name we need to know more about you!

Have you ever had so much fun everything else slips out of your mind? Yesterday was one of those for me. The autumn weather is so fantastic I love going out to play.

Of course, with my beautiful curvaceous figure, I NEVER forget to come in for a snack. So between playing with Oscar cat next door I had breakfast, dinner, supper and did Puss-in-boots eyes at dad for a few snacks. Between snacks, when not taking a compulsory nap, I went outside. Everything was fine with that except.... I forgot to come in at bed time.

I was also a bad kitty as I was way out of the yard. I heard mummy call me. ooops. I had to sneak back when she wasn't looking. It took awhile and she went out the back, out the front, checked down the street but I didn't dare come home while she was looking.

Mummy had gone to bed, leaving dad with strict intructions to make sure I was in before he went to sleep. I snuck in. Oh dear! Daddy saw me and dobbed on me! Mummy came out of the room and told me off!

Geeze! I just was playing mum!

Of course I know what to do when I'm in trouble. I played cute cat on the bed sleeping with mum and dad! All forgiven.

Hamish is a mouse. A mouse that lives in my house. I've been given strict rules when it comes to Hamish - Rule 1 - he is not a meal!

I'm a cat, he is a mouse - ergo he should be dinner! I sometimes sneak into cousin's room where Hamish lives and sit on the table next to his cage.

Cousin has smartly made him a prisoner in her room. I can sit and watch him, waiting for my chance. Unfortunately I usually end up on her bed asleep when I try that.... Rule 2 - I'm not allowed to get into the cage.

Every now and then cousin teases me and lets Hamish run around in a clear plastic ball. If you have ever seen the episodes of Simpsons with Nibbles the hamster running in around a ball, you know what I mean.

Hamish will run up to me and bump against me. I'm not allowed to swat the ball - torture. A round ball that rolls around with a rodent and I'm not allowed to play with it? Cruel and unusual punishment! Rule 3 - he is not a toy!

These hoomans also tease me by letting Hamish even STAND on me. I'm not allowed to take a little bite but he is allowed to sniff me and stand on me! I have a picture on my page with him standing on me - the indignity of it!
Rule 4 - I'm not allowed to stand on him.

In all honesty, I don't mind the rules and I don't mind Hamish - he is cool - for a mouse!

I can't believe it has been almost 2 weeks since I last put an entry up! Mum has a lot to answer for!!!!

It's not all her fault, I have been sleeping alot. The cooler weather means that I can sleep far for more omfortably. I love curling up in the arm chair in the lounge room and sleeping the morning away. At night I love starting out under the bed and then sneaking up to curl up at the end of the bed. Mummy thinks it's fantastic as I like to sleep on dad's side of the bed! She was mummbling something to dad about it being his turn to have no room because of a cat after 20 years of being unable to stretch her legs....

Mummy has got serious about me losing weight and daddy is trying to comply. Mum said it is crunch time as I'm a bit lazy about personal grooming ****Lucy blushes****. It isn't that easy to clean downstairs, if you know what I mean. There is a LOT of me to clean and getting past my tummy is a challenge. Mum says until I can clean myself properly she will keep me on a strict diet. She even got the baby wipes out on me one day.

On a bright note, daddy thinks I have slimmed down a bit:) I'm going back to snooze....

Tonight I am champion huntress of the universe, or I would be if my hunting adventure hadn't been rudely interrupted.

Every evening when the sun goes down I like to sit out on the front step and watch the world go by. As it gets dark lots of exciting animals come out. Usually that means other cats, possums and fruit bats. Tonight it meant more!

At first I thought it was just another lizard. But it was BIG! It was in the grass and it was moving. Now, how can a cat resist? It was wriggling in the grass! I had to go check it out. It hissed! Wow! Something serious to hunt! At last!

Dad had just said today that any bugs and things I catch outside are FREE calories! MOL! I had scooped the pool! This was another dinner! Yummy!

I was just getting serious about playing with the hissy thing in the grass when... you guessed it. I was sprung. Not mummy, not daddy, but the cousins. Yes, they chose that moment to return from cheerleading practice.

The car headlights shone on me and my toy. A snake. A brown snake. Cousin number one got out of the car and MOVED me away! She took me away from my prize! How rude. She went and got mummy! She told on me!

Mummy carried me inside. This was serious! Daddy came and he got to play with the snake. I could see from my window seat. He poked it with the broom and then put it in a box. Unfair! I found it!

Hummmph! They spoilt all my fun and my calorie free snack! I bet daddy got to eat it. He took it in the car just so I couldn't have any. When he came back it was gone so he must have eaten it up all by himself!

*** we aren't sure what kind of snake it was, hopefully just a carpet snake or a small python. However, as there are so many venomous snakes we weren't taking any chances (such as the deadly eastern brown snake). No one really wanted to check it close enough to identify it! It was safely relocated to some bushland nearby***

Daddy went away for a few for work. It was sad as my big eyed look doesn't work as well on mummy as it does on daddy. I was stuck on my regular meals, no extras! How horrific!

I was sleeping on my window seat when I heard daddy's car! I was so excited I went out the door. Yes, he was home. I helped him up the front stairs and there he was putting his stuff down on my window seat, but I didn't mind.

"I bought someone a present!" said daddy. Mummy said: "for Lucy!" and it was. Bling!

Mummy had been saying I need a sparkly L for my collar. One of those L's covered in diamonds! That is what daddy had got for me. So pretty! So sparkly! The L also had a little silver love heart with it!

Daddy and cousin tried to hold me to put my bling on my collar. I was so excited I could stay still. Mummy suggested just daddy try and in moments I was wearing my brand new bling L.

The next day I went outside to show of my new jewellery. Of course all those cats were jealous. My collar sparkles with it's diamond studs and now, I also have a sparkle studded L hanging off it! I am soooo lucky!

Mummy looked at me on the stairs and she said it sparkles so nicely in the sun. I'm so proud!

Bling is for me!

It is hard to believe that it was only 2 months ago I was at the RSPCA feeling abandoned and competing against all the slim young kitties for the ideal home. I'm not going to hold back - na-na-nanah-na ***sticks out tongue*** I scooped the pool!

Now, all the young kitties want to be my friend and share my home! MOL! what a turn around. I'm Miss Popular Lucy.

Wow! So many friends - I can't wait for evening when I go out and tell them all how lucky I am. Oscar comes around (mummy even found him in the lounge room with me when she came home from work the other day). Rufus loves the yard. Black and white kitty wants my dinner. Nermal loves my plants..... the list goes on.

Tonight, I was out telling off Larry. What cat would allow himself to be called 'Larry"? Larry wants to be my friend. Larry wants to be patted by my hoomans. Larry wants into my house. Well too bad! That's what I said to him.

It is such great fun being the cat everyone wants to visit. The cat with the cool parents who let me be me and don't cramp my style!

None of the leaves are 'turning', there is no frost, none of the signs most kitties would associate with the cooling of the season. Not here - thank goodness! How do I know autumn is here? It's easy - it's cool enought to sleep with the window closed and no AC monster! MOL!

What are the other signs that winter is on the way?
- Mummy's feet have turned big, pink and fluffy in the evenings
- when mummy leaves in the morning she has extra layer of fur called a cardigan
- Daddy sits around with a shirt on
- the front door actually gets closed at times
- there is dew on the lawn in the mornings
- the sun gets up later in the mornings....

hmmm.... I wonder what winter is going to be like? I know some are hoping I'll be snuggly, yeah right. Give me a cosy spot in the sun or a warm blanket....

Cuddles, they are something for sookie little kittens, or so I thought. I love pats. I love being scratched. I don't even mind being given the occassional brush. But when it came to cuddles.... hmmmmmm....

When I moved into my furever home I made it clear - cuddles were a no no. These silly hoomans. They said I'ld learn. Now, I'm not one of those delicate little kitties, I have enough size and weight to get my own way. When they picked me up to cuddle me, I would wiggle and jiggle and insist on getting down - NOW!

Did those hoomans listen to me? No! Mummy is the worst, she insists on cuddling me - paying the rent she calls it. She would pick me up for a quick cuddle before feeding me. Okay - I could tolerate 5-10 seconds. It seemed to make her happy and she ALWAYS made sure my bottom wasn't hanging down - how uncomfortable and undignified.

What I didn't realise was how 5-10 seconds has slowly stretched out. Now she can actually hold me for a few minutes before I wiggle and jiggle. Hmmm.. I guess it isn't that bad after all but no way am I going to be a lap cat! OMC I'm too big for lap cuddles.

Mummy and cousing seem to think otherwise. Cousin picks me up and puts me in her lap and I hop off. Mummy picks me up and okay, I can tolerate it 5- 10 seconds if she holds me right. Okay, may 10-15 seconds...

Is there a pattern forming here? MOL! I think mummy might be trying to turn me into a sookie little lap cat! Oh No! What am I doing?

I'm slowly being turned into a CUDDLY CAT! Drat! Maybe I can blame it on the cooling weather. After all, it is now autumn!

Another week has passed. It is already Easter Sunday and the bunny has been and gone. Drat, he must have come while I was napping. Bugs would have made a nice snack!

Mummy and dad have been home extra. Something called public holiday. Mummy said she will stay home with me for the week also. I guess that means putting up with mushy stuff.

Dad moved a whole lot of pavers out the back yesterday. They keep mumbling about a deck. I have no idea what they going on about, but mummy seems to think I'll enjoy it once it arrives.

I've ben playing outside alot. It's fun in the evening. Mum even had to come out and carry me in the other night, saying it was time to go to bed. I don't know why she just doesn't leave me out...

Nothing much has been happening apart from that in my life this week. I guess every week can't be exciting.

Such a tantalising word. What could I be referring to? There is such a salacious hint given by the simple use of !

Am I going to spill the dirt on some scandal?
Perhaps of a new tryst between 2 star felines of Catster?
Maybe through my membership of the 'Royal Feline Group' reveal some scandalous regal titbit? Have Queen Pooky and King Suede split?
Or about to ruin the latest case from Samoa's detective agency?
Have the Olde Furts come up with a more scandalous pass time than the nood exploits my angle furt sisfurs have told me about?

Unfortunately not. By dirt I am merely referring to dirt. Lovely, gritty, dusty, dry, abrasive dirt. The kind our hoomans try and keep out of the house. I love dirt!

The dirt I like is the kind of dirt you find in the gutter at the base of your driveway. The concrete there is nice and warm from the sun, the dirt exceptionally dry and dusty. Purrrrfect!

I love to go and roll over, paws in the air and give my back a good scratch.
I love to rub my face over the warm abrasive grains.
I love to come inside with my white fur transformed into a dusty dirty grey.
I love the calls of disgust with my name!
I love the rush to dust me off.
I love leaving the furniture covered in a film of dust.
I guess I just love being dirty!

I just don't know why the hooman's don't appreciate my efforts!

For those of you who have read my diary from the start may recall how I received my name. It was a joke at the shelter about my less than svelt figure.

"Broad in the beam" was one of the terms on my bio. Oh how this has come back to haunt me. Isn't there some wives tale that where ever a cat can get its head through the rest of the body will follow? Well, it is a wives tale. I learnt the hard way. Cousin has shared my humiliation with the whole family. I still blush.

I went to chat to cousin who was playing on her own 'puter in her room. It was a great chance to investicat everywhere (and there is that interesting little rodent Hamish in there also!). Anyway, I thought a nice explore under the bed was warranted. The areas near the wall.

I stuck my head down the gap between the bed and the wall. It looked real intereting down there. I slipped my paws down and my shoulders went down with no problems. It was fine until my curvaceous hips tried to follow.

I wiggled.

I jiggled.

Cousin giggled.

I was kind of stuck. My wonderful hips didn't want to follow. Finally, with a massive effort I managed to get down.

Mum has been saying she has to add 'Lucy in the sky with Diamonds" as a them to my page.

Dad now wants Weird Al's "I'm Fat".

How humiliating!

Daddy reminded me that I hadn't done a diary entry for awhile. He loves reading what I'm thinking - he isn't as good at talking to me as mum!

It isn't my fault - mummy has been too busy on the 'puter to let me on. Something about an assignment and an exam and work.... Pfhfff! I need my 'puter time!

Last week white and black kitty came around a few times to check out my food. Mum says not to confuse white and black kitty with black and white kitty - 2 different cats! Geez, you think she could give them better names. Anyway - I don't like sharing my food so the other night I spotted white and black kitty heading to my food bowls - yes I can really move when I want. Chased kitty out the kitchen, through the laundry, out the cat door, up the yard and over the back fence! MOL! what a sooky kitty!

Oscar from next door has indicated he wants to be furriends. He even snuck in the front door to entice me out to play the other day. Was he kidding? It was nap time! I'm not sure I'm keen to encourage him around either. I'm a bit more nervous about him coming to visit - after all he thinks of my yard as his. He even chased me into my house the other day. Everyone laughed - something about me being twice his size... But they forget he has a big bro who is even larger than me!

Last night was the first time I woke mummy up in the middle of the night. I just climbed over the bedside table and made as much noise as possible! MOL! She didn't think it was funny - neither did I! I was starving! A girl has to maintain her figure! Anyway - she made me wait 'til breaky time to eat - that didn't work!

Now, I have to plan a new strategy, after all diet is die with a T!

A gorgeous, slightly older, used kitten named Brandy tagged me:) Fun and games time!

Instructions for the next kitties who may be unfamiliar...

This is how it works. The kitty that is tagged, goes to their diary page and lists 7 facts about themselves. They then list 7 furriends and those kitties will list their 7 facts in their diaries, so that others can get to know a little about each of us.
After listing your facts about yourself, then below that you will name the 7 kitties that you choose to tag. Don't forget to notify them by pawmail or by sending a rossette so that they know they've been tagged.

Facts about me:
1. I'm a big girl but the vet said I only need to lose 800gms! MOL! that is far less than mummy!

2. I love to be with people. I'll stay up until everyone goes to bed - even if that's 3am!

3. I love to sleep on the bed with mum and dad at night in the air conditioning. It gets muggy and uncomfortable without the AC monster!

4. I'm still finding my way in the neighbourhood. I've only lived here under 2 months and all the cats want to check me out (can't blame them, I'm beautiful!)

5. There is another 4 legged fur monster in the house - Hamish. He is dinner on legs (a mouse!)

6. I don't like accessories. I'm tolerating a collar but would rather be nood. The pretty red with sparklies helps.

7. I live in Queensland Australia - a long way from most of my kitty furriends!

Now, I have to tag 7 felines.....

1. Bellsnickles - 404481
2. Angel - 615473
3.Memphis - 679552
4. Diego - 650587
5. Wolfgang - 389727
6. Zephyr - 635180
7. Little Midnight - 702900

I went with total strangers to add fun and to get to know them!

I am overwhelmed with all the furriends I am making on Catster! Purrrs to all the kitties out there. However, I haven't been limiting my friend making skills to Catster - I am trying to meet kitties in the neighbourhood.

The yard has all interesting cat smells. Lots and lots of kitties seem to have hung out around here. I can't wait to meet them all. Cat central it seems. It has a real good woofer proof fence and trees! Not that I limit my roaming to the yard!

Mum and dad are a bit nervous about my inclination to go checking everything out. Their last cats were old. Real old. The RSPCA labelled me a middle aged cat at the grand age of 6. That would make my rainbow bridge fursisters dinosaurs when they crossed. Accordingly these kitties weren't very adventurous or big into playing:( They slept a lot. So these new hoomans of mine had forgotten playful a young kitten like me can be (MOL!, well in comparison I am!)

The coolest friend I'm making lives right next door. His name is Oscar. He comes over to play and I'm slowly getting the courage to play. He was a bit miffed with my arrival at first. He kinda thought the yard was his and his big bro's. Now, he comes looking for me and we kind of sit a few feet apart checking each other out!

Yesterday evening I climbed up on the carport roof! It was fantastic. I could watch everything. Oscar came and sat on the fence. I think he wanted to join me but was worried I would give him a swat on the way up!

Oscar's big bro (I can call him that because he is even bigger than me plus being a fluffy persian type tabby) is quite standoffish. That's because he is getting old himself. Gee he is a teenager!

Today was a scary day. I was taken from my snooze spot in the sun and popped into a carrier. My heart started beating fast immediately. I wanted to get out. Mum didn't listen and popped me in the car. I was sure I was going back to the shelter!

She talked to me in the car. It seemed to take furever. I meowed loud for me. She tried to give me a few scratches and pats but she was busy driving.

Then she popped me out of the car and took me into a large waiting room. There were lots of cute kittens there. Now I was positive I was being traded. She wouldn't let me out of the cage and kept talking to me.

Eventually she took me into a small room. OMC! It was worse. I was at the V-E-T! The vet squeezed me, checked my teeth and patted me. Then, how embarrassing, she weighed me. Can't a girl have some secrets? I was given my shots and I heard the discussion about the dreaded D word. D for diet that is! The vet said I was a large cat and doesn't think I need to lose too much weight (I said I was curvaceous!).

Then the reverse trip occurred. I was so scared I was shaking and my heart was still pounding. Wasn't too sure where I would end up. Home, at last! What a relief.

I was so pleased. Everyone came and patted me. They were happy to see me. I was so pleased that as soon as it got dark I slipped outside. I was so proud to be able to go hunting and bring something home for all the hoomans. Lizard! A huge, ginormous gekko! It was so yummy. I was acknowledge for my hunting skill and my ability to contribute to the house. I was so proud. But I couldn't resist. I ate the lizard all myself! Delicious!

Purrrrrrrrs everyone. I need to do some more hunting! I have a family to feed!

Mum has been hogging the 'puter. Something about an exam coming up! Pfff! who cares. I haven't been able to write in my diary for a week! This morning I started walking all over her keyboard so she would get the idea. Lucy's turn !

As you have probably guessed, I'm pretty well settled in now. Last weekend my new two legged parents got me a three tier cat house! Great scratching post and nice places to sit!

They also now trust me to go outside unsupervised. I did get into trouble on Wednesday. Mum went to uni and left dad in charge. I scooted off across the street to explore. Dad thought I was gone MOL! Like I would go anywhere! He went to pick mum and told her I was probably gone, but no. I was sitting in the kitchen waiting for mum when she arrived home! I got a lecture about not being allowed to cross the street without a 'grown up'! I'm a six year old cat not a brainless 2 legged child!

Since then I have been busy getting to know Rufus and Oscar who live next door. They have figures similar to mine so they must be lovely kitties! n Talking about figures, mum keeps saying I'm meant to only have fixed meals. Dad is great, he keeps sneaking me snacks! I think I love mixed messages! The hoomans think I'm strange - I don't like chicken that much. Happy to leave that. Fish is nice and so is steak!

On Friday night I went out and played and lost my collar! Yay! I don't think I like collars. Mum knew where it would be though, next door. Yep, next morning the silly two legged hooman from there brought it back. Mum didn't put it on so I thought I would get to be noood again, but no. She bought me a new one. This one is bright red with pretty sparkly stones on it! I think I like it. Bling never hurts a girl!

Mum has said that I have to go to the V-E-T. Something about shots due. Hah! like she can carry me! Monday afternoon is the time. Don't think I like the idea of being squeezed into a carrier.....

Oh, what excitement yesterday and today. I've got to go outside! First, it was into the backyard. A place with lots of trees and shrubs. I did the full perimeter, checking out the shed and the old dog kennel (no doggies there for years and years). Such great smells, such great hiding spots, such great climbing potential!!!

This morning I was taken out the front yard. More excitement - it has a cat heaven of underneath the house. It's an old house and all the rooms are recreated under the floor. I sniffed around there for ages - lots of cats visit there! I came out a different way to going in but new dad was there waiting for me. I tried sneaking next door, but I was returned home. I wasn't upset as this was one of the longest walks I've done since being at the shelter.

I came inside and had a long sleep. When I woke my new mum had come home from shopping. She had another present for me. Lucy, come and see - it was a cat house! Three levels with sleeping spots! Magnificent scratching places and more toys attached. Me - spoilt or what!

The only down side is everytime I do anything I get this flashy thing in my face. My new mum says its for my catster page. I guess photos will be appearing soon of me doing cat things!

Geez, these hoomans are so easy to please.

Okay, I've been in my new home since Saturday. I've discovered
1)everyone will let me sleep in their bed with them - Yippeeeee!
2) Lui should be spelt Liu - the RSPCA folks couldn't spell but my new hoomans says it makes me unique so they aren't going to fix it up (after all there are 2 Lucy Liu's on catster but only 1 Lucy Lui!)
3) I have 4 hooman slaves who will pander to my every whim
4) I do like playing with toys a little
5) food is great here, the diet doesn't seem to be happening
6) there is a great yard - I can't wait until they let me out to play
7) there is a big dawg next door who scares me when she barks

Ah, life is definitely looking up

Wow! What a day! I have finally found a forever home!

I was at the RSPCA for a month. The staff knew I wasn't a prime pick. I'm six and a little wide. My bio said something about me being no Lucy Lui, that you could probably fit two of her on my butt! MOL! Can you believe that!

Now, I think I've found a place to be spoilt rotten! I was brought inside and allowed to find a bolt hole or two. I was supplied with food and water, lots of different food! Oh dear, they keep muttering the diet word....

I've started to make new friends. Everyone is so nice here, they scratch me and pat me. They want to cuddle me but they have said they understand I need space at the moment.

Oh! these people are nice, they are even going to let me get up on the furniture. Happy days are here again!
