Oh I'm not a real Maine Coon - but my cowboy kitty self is a Faux Maine Coon (that's like not original but not totally authentic), who inherited the strong "Big Bushy Tail" gene and it's sure challenging to have this big and bushy and oversized tail and get thru the day with it.
The 3 biggest daily challenges for my tail are:
1) how not to get a kitchen cupboard door or the frig door slammed on it!
2) how to avoid having humans go gaga over the tail - haven't they ever seen one?
3) how to walk amongst the fine figurines on the fireplace mantel without my tail whipping around and well you know, kind of knocking things off! I didn't do it, the tail did!
So I'm thinking someone needs to write a book for Dummies "The Dummies Guide To Life With A Big Bushy Tail" - everyone would buy it - I'd buy catzillions of copies to gift all my furiends with. Yesiree I would if I could! Yee haw - then the world would know the purroblems we big and bushy tailed cats gotta live with. It ain't me misbehavin', it's my tail!

I's know wat you means I's got one of those big bushy tails and I's not a Maine Coon, well I's guess I's could have a little Maine Coon in me. Meowmy just luves my tail she's always gushing abouts it and saying how longs it is compared to Missy's tail. My tails always getting stepped on I's don't understands it's soooo... big and bushy yous think they could sees it better!?!
Me 'n Blossom, we will want one of those books when you get published. 'N if it is possible, will you purrsonally pawtograph it for us?
prrrt 'n meow,
& just call me.....
I totally get the Big Bushy Tail issues...However they are useful fur certain things - like they can totally block the visual field of a hooman who has the nerve to ignore you.
They also can keep your nose warm on those cold winter nights!
Also very useful fur waking up hooman who is reluctant to get out of bed for 4am feeding time!
So, althogh they can be challenging, big bushy tails can be very useful too! MOL!
Ohhhh I wouldn't know about tails cuz I don't have one!!! One of my fur cousins has a big bushy tail and and and my Auntie Beth calls it a "swiffer" and says she has a cat that dusts!!!
My tail is registered as a dangerous weapon -MOL!!! I can wipe a counter or table clean pretty fast. You are lucky to have such handsome plumage Yolo!
These tails can be fun too- you can hide a dwarf bunny under your tail if you want to!! Plus if its chilly it will keep you warm
At least you have an excuse when your tail does something . . . .
As a proud member of the Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed League, I hear you, bro!
I try to keep my tail upright whenever possible -- it's the side to side motion that sends all those human geegaws plummeting to the floor.
This is where small is good. I'm a small bloke with a small normal tail. When something is knocked on the floor it's all my fault at least you can blame your tail.
I think you have a bit o' Coon in you, Yolo! My meowmy told me, she looks at your eyes and she sees a Coon looking back! She looks at your other end and sees a Coony tail swatting stuff off the counters and coffee table! Just like my Earthly self used to be.
