Friends - there has been a terrible accident in Reno, Nev., where a plane in an air race show crashed into the grandstands. They are saying it could be a "mass casualty situation." Please purr for everyone affected. Hopefully it's not as bad as they're thinking.

Oh kitties - have I got a story for you. This is just one example of the things I'm forced to put up with.
Yesterday, mom cleaned out my litter box and life was swell. This morning when she went to scoop it out, she noticed there wasn't much in it. Hmmm....
Then later in the afternoon she saw me sitting right in front of the litter box by its door, but I wouldn't go in. I sat there for quite awhile. Mom started to get worried that maybe my tummy troubles were back. So she took the lid off, and I ran in to do my business.
Later, she had friends over for the Packers game. Her friend was saying how she likes the mat under my box, when mom looked over and something caught her eye. The door to my litter box was half off its hinges and wouldn't swing open for me! I was locked out of my own litter box!!

Oh my cats! I'm a DDP today?! Wow! Thanks everyone for your presents, comments and pmails! They mean so much to me!
I've been feeling so much better! I've been eating what I should be eating and even playing some. Thanks for all your purrs to help me get over my illness.
Now I have a new dilemma. Talk Like a Pirate Day is almost here, and I can't come up with a name! Anyone have any good ideas? I was trying to think of something with sandwich in it, since I try to steal mom's sandwiches, but so far I haven't come up with anything clever.
Well, I need to run for now. I'll try to be back later.
Thanks again everyone!!

There's a new tag game going around, and I wanted to play! It seems like it's a really easy game to play and there are no rules!
You just have to answer a few Questions. So please PLAY ALONG, everyfur!
1. Your Meowmy or Dad is asleep and you are furry hungry; You would.....
Go to the corner of the bed and scratch, scratch, scratch. When that doesn't work I jump in the bathtub and start scratching at the shower curtain. That usually gets her up.
2. You are furry sleepy and are sleeping on a top ledge; Meowmy or Dad would say..........
Awww - Cute kitty - let's get a picture! And then she would get that stupid flashy box out.
3. You saw a dog who wants to chase something; what's the furry furst thing you would you say or do?
I would say, "I don't think so, doggie!" And then I would unleash the smacky paws on the dog's nose. I know, I've done this to my uncle's dog many times!
4. Your Meowmy or Dad wants you to stop tearing the furniture. You would...
Stop for a second, wait till she turns her back, and continue on. A girl's gotta have sharp claws!
5. Your Kitty Kat emergency box, full of fur fashions, is locked. Oh No! You would....
Oh, I don't wear clothes - I like to go au naturel. :0
I hope all my friends will play this fun game!
Here's an update from mom on how I'm feeling:
Monida had a really good day yesterday. She ate quite a bit. Unfortunately, she did throw up, but I figure it was probably because she ate more than she has been, so her stomach wasn't used to it. She only did it once.
Her diarrhea seems to be doing better, and her eye isn't squinty anymore. She's still not terribly active, but it might just take a few days for her to feel completely better, and I think Tigger might be right in that the heat might be contributing to her inactiveness. Luckily, it's supposed to cool off a bit this week.
So hopefully we're on the right track! Thank you everyone for purring for Monida! And for keeping me sane through the whole thing. You all are so amazing!!

Well, I took Monida to her appointment at the new vet, and we are no closer to a diagnosis than before we went in. This vet also doesn't seem too concerned about her not eating. He gave her some prescription food to see if we can get the diarrhea under control.
Now a new problem has arised. Monida's left eye is all squinty and cloudy. The vet seems to think it's from the herpes virus and is flaring up because of all the stress of everything else. So he gave me some lysine, which I know Sobe's dad has used with good luck.
So I'm not sure what the next step is. I guess I'll closely watch her for a few days and then re-evaluate.
I should mention a couple things that I keep forgetting to mention - Monida does not have a fever, and she is still drinking plenty of water. She eats a little bit, so she hasn't completely stopped, but she's eating less than a quarter of what she should be. I wish we could just figure out what's wrong!

Hi kitties! Do you want a great game to play with your parents? On the day they call to make a vet appointment for you, act completely normal. Zoom around the house, eat a big breakfast and use the litterbox as appropriate. I've done this twice now, and the reaction I get is awesome!
Unfortunately, that didn't stop her from making an appointment at a new vet today. :( I have to go in at 4:15. Not as early as mom would like, but earlier than Thursday.
I'm gonna go play and eat and see if I can't convince her I'm fine.
Oh - I forgot to tell you - I'm also practicing for Talk Like a Pirate Day by walking around squinting - Arrrgh Matey!

So yesterday Monida ate almost nothing. Finally, on advice from Angel Alex, I boiled a chicken breast and tried feeding it to her. She ate just a few bites. I was starting to get really nervous.
I was able to give her nearly a full dose of her medicine, so I was pretty proud of that. Monida was not quite so happy.
Around 2 a.m., she ate a little kibble, and kept eating a little bit periodically throughout the night so that was good. But she's still pretty lethargic, and while she had just a little bit of diarhhea yesterday, she hasn't really used her litter box since.
Anyway, the reason I'm upset is I spoke to the vet on the phone today and told him all of that information. He hadn't even looked at her xrays from this weekend. He didn't seemed concerned at all, basically saying since she had gained weight over the summer, that this probably wasn't a big deal since she has some she can lose. He said if she's not eating by Thursday to bring her in and they might put a feeding tube in her. I'm not sure why he would wait so long and then jump to something so drastic.
I asked if maybe the medicine was causing her to not eat. He said maybe, and I could stop giving it to her if I wanted, even though I've only given her two doses, and I'm supposed to give it to her for seven days. And he said this without actually looking at her xrays.
I'm not home to see if Monida is eating this afternoon, but I'll check tonight. And I have no plans on waiting until Thursday to bring her back in if she's still lethargic and not eating. She may have weight to lose, but this isn't the right way to do it.

Monida is back to not eating and just laying around. It's also really hot here, so that's probably affecting her. I wish I knew what symptoms are related to her sickness and what are from the heat.
She also still has diarrhea, but is still having trouble going. But the vet did say it would take a little while for the medicine to kick in.
So that's what we've got going on today. I feel so bad for my little girl.

First things first - I am purring BIG TIME for all my friends on the East Coast. Be safe everyone!
Second - I am officially putting myself up for adoption. I no longer wish to live with this evil woman I once called mom.
First on Wednesday, she takes me to the vet where they STEAL MY BLOOD! I thought that was the worst I must endure. Oh, if only I were right.
Then earlier today, she came home, and I greeted her at the door. How nice to see you mom, you don't usually come home for dinner ... why are you grabbing my carrier?! NOOOO!
Do you know what I went through at the vet's office? First the vet squeezed my belly, and then she said she couldn't really tell if I had a lot of poo in my colon because I'm "a big gal." What?!
Then she made me do x-rays. THEN, as if all that wasn't enough, she tried to open my mouth and look for string under my tongue. When I wouldn't let her she called me grumpy and uncooperative. I had some names to call her, but mom wouldn't let me.
Now mom just tried to give me my medicine. It's TERRIBLE! It made me drool and was sticky, and oh, just plain awful. Now I'm gonna go lay in front of my window and ignore mom. My only consolation is that while mom tried to give me my medicine, she ended up taking a dose of it herself! AHAHAHAH!
From mom -
Does anyone have any tips on how to give liquid metronidazole? I'm supposed to give it to her for seven days and I don't think I can do this. I tried to give it to her tonight, but I ended up wearing most of it. I got some in her, so I hope that helps. But it makes her drool something fierce. It was all over me, her, the bathroom, the kitchen, my wall. Is that normal?
