I played hide-and-go-seek with Mom today when she was looking for me to take some pictures. She "found" me several times but I wouldn't let her catch me until much later. I was rewarded with chicken afterwards so I guess it was worth all the exercise!

Thank you Hazel Lucy, Lil' Muppet, Beauty and family, Hilda and family, Sissy and family, Teebo and Callie, Tigger, Chef Rooster, Edgar, Sugar, Hunter, and Stoney for celebrating my 5th Catster anniversary with me.

My 5th Catster Anniversary!

Happy Halloween!

Today I received my special 5th Catster cake. I haven't grown in size very much since I first became a member, but I've definitely changed my attitude about living here.

Mom thinks I am as cute as a button and Dad is still calling me Sofie Little because I "am" little, but I sure have a big appetite. In the past, I've gone through periods of being affectionate and then retreating back to being super shy, but I've changed so much lately. It can only get better!

Thanks to all my friends for being my friends!

Munchkin Me!

Oh, I think it's pretty obvious why I was chosen to be one of the ballerina munchkins from the Wizard of Oz...because I am a munchkin!

Mom made my hat very quickly out of felt and during the photo shoot it started to rip at the seams. Stopping to repair it was out of the question so it was decided I was done at that time.

I have continued to be quite the sociable kitty and my parents are very happy about that. I also heard that giving Quincy chicken would be a good thing during his chemo treatment so I'm thrilled!

Sociable Sofie

I'm almost completely sociable now. Just about every single day I come downstairs and spend time on the couch with my parents and rub against them, knead, purr, smell their faces, and then take a nap on the couch. My paw pads are looking much better too!

This has only taken me five years!

More Sociable!

I'm slowly becoming more sociable now which means I'm getting more pictures taken in different places in the house.

I really do not want to be picked up, but I am really enjoying head and body scritches from my parents. Twice in the past week (and that's alot) I went downstairs and jumped on Dad's lap while he was on the couch, and I've been napping out in the open downstairs which I don't usually do.

Between me becoming more sociable overall and Enzo warming up to Dad, it is a big change in the house--for the good.

Sociable Sofie?

It's a Big Deal!

I'm a diary pick today, and I haven't been one since March 26, 2007. Wow, that was a long time to wait, which I did very patiently, so this is a big deal. I don't like to rush into things, and obviously neither do they!

I came downstairs and jumped on Dad's lap this past weekend, and he didn't even have any food that enticed me. That is a big deal because I probably do that once a year!

I've also started sitting on the middle stair landing and I like it when my parents stay on the first level and stick their hands through the stair rails and scratch my ears and belly, but not if they come up and look like they're going to pick me up! That's a big deal.

This week I came downstairs and went into the play cube for the first time since forever, and that's why I have a new picture of me in it. Another big deal.

I guess this is proof that I'm not holding grudges against those foot baths I've been getting, but it doesn't mean I'm going to make it easy for anyone to catch me for them. My piggies are plump but they still run fast!

Who knows, maybe in five years I'll let my parents pick me up easily, and in another ten years I'll run for President!

Thank you for sharing my honor with me:

Hazel Lucy, Edgar, and Kahn (plus a cute graphic) for your pawmails!
Angel Buddie for your pawmail and healing rosette from the gang of well wishers!
Angel Sir Sonny Bono for your pawmail!
Anna for your pawmail!
Hondo for the ice cream!
Hilda for the tree!
Rocky Ann for the ice cream!
Hooch for the paw!
Beauty for the cherry drink!
Sugar for the watermelon!
Edwina for the beach ball!
Kibbles for the watermelon!
Camille Rose for the paw!
Angel Wally for the ice cream!
Xena for the duck in the pool!
Lucy for the rose!
Truffles for the ice cream!
Hunter for the beach ball!
KiKi for the grape drink!

We had some excitement last night, but it's Reebok's story, so he'll be sharing it later tonight.

Slithering Sofie

I haven't had much more to say about my paw pads since my last diary entry, but I don't make it easy for Mom to catch me for foot baths, so we're lucky if it's done twice a week. Tomorrow is going to be one of "those" days. And, she says they look about the same, no worse, no better.

Mom did talk to my vet who said we could give it another week or so. I am not showing any signs of discomfort and make my presence known when I feel like it, but the fastest human hand is usually not fast enough!

Slithering Sofie...that's me!

Getting my Feet Wet!

Bathing my paws has been no easy task this past week. It takes Mom almost a half hour to get me, but once she brings me to the bathroom she lets me walk around while she fills the sink with water. I rub against her legs back and forth.

I don't mind the shampoo as much as I do the water, but afterwards I get to clean myself while laying on a towel. Pixie was sticking her paws under the door again so we let her in. She looked at me and told me I should be glad I was only getting my paws wet because she knows a thing or two about getting full body baths!

Mom actually thinks my paws look better but she will have to take a better look later when I'm dry so she can compare them to the pictures she took last week of my paws.

Plump Piggies!

I just got my feet shampooed. ALDO refers to them as my Plump Piggies!

Mom thought I was upstairs in one of the cat trees sleeping but when she came to get me she discovered I was up on the window sill. I started to jump down and was going to make a run for it, but she grabbed me and locked both of us in the bathroom.

I didn't know what to think when my plump piggies were getting shampooed in lukewarm water. After we were done, Mom sat on the floor and put me on her lap wrapped in a towel. Then I had to get all this affection and listen to her apologize. Pixie's little paws kept showing up under the door, too!

LUCY was telling me about a condition one of her Catster friends has called Plasma Cell Pododermatitis, which is sometimes called Pillow Foot! The pictures I saw look similar so we'll ask the vet about it, but sounds like nothing can be confirmed without a biopsy.

Thanks for the info, Lucy, and thanks to all of you for your purrs for my Plump Piggies/Pillow Feet!

I spent $213.62 today!

I just got home from a vet appointment at 11:00am today. About a half hour before my appointment Mom was trying to get me out from under the couch but was unsuccessful, so she had to get Dad.

Well, Dad got me to come out but I went running to the other end of the couch and then saw Mom, so I turned around and went the other way and saw Dad again! I didn't want to jump up on the back of the couch so I decided I would outsmart Dad and fly over him instead, since he was lying on his stomach. I may be shy, but I'm swift!

I went running upstairs and went under the big bed. I should have stayed there because they can never get me that way, but when I saw them looking at me under the bed, I snuck out and crawled under the dresser!

Dad finally had me held hostage in one corner of the dresser and then Mom carefully pulled out the bottom drawer and got me. Then I got stuck in the carrier and started crying.

The reason I went to see the vet was because my back paw pads are swollen, but there are no visible lesions. Mom discovered it when she trimmed my nails. After an overall exam, the vet threw out some long words....Eosinophilic Granuloma, an inflammatory skin disease. My lymph nodes on the back of one leg felt a bit enlarged, but you don't notice anything when I'm walking, running, or jumping. The only way to know for sure would be a biopsy, so we are not going to assume right now that it's a fact.

For now, Mom begrudingly agreed to let me get a steroid shot, but they had to do a quickie blood test first and my blood test came out great, so I got the shot. Plus, I got some Allergroom shampoo so I can get my paws washed. Ha! If they can catch me first! Then we have to call the vet back in a couple of weeks to report on my progress.

Oh, and the $213.62 also paid for them to weigh me and tell me I'm 7.9 lbs, so I have no weight loss!

On the way back home, there were some balloons on the center divider on the road to advertise the Farmer's Market by our house. It's windy today so they were flying into the path of the road and we thought it would be fun to drive into them but we missed.

Glad to be home,
