Hi Ya'all,
Mom just decorated our pages in birfday themes..
Halloween will be my second birfday.. and yes im in my terrible twos.. ha ha Meow.

And two weeks later on 11-15-09 Kujy my brofur will be celebrating his second birfday too.. mom sure has her hands full with two of the terrible two kids. We are into effurything!

A lil about me..

1. What color is your collar? – A collar? What's that? No, it wears away my beautiful furs from around my neck and show kitties cant have that. Besides i would never tolerate it.

2. What kind of food do you eat? – Not much, I could give finicky Morris a run for his money.

3. What are your favorite treats? – Dried chicken jerky.

4. Do you have a Valentine or significant other? – No - Im available but would really like to stay single, I just like to flirt.

5. Do you get Table Scraps? – Never.

6. What is your favorite toy? -- sparkle balls.

7. When is your Birthday? – Oct 31... Im gonna be 2.

8. How many times a day do you get to eat? - All day dry.
Once a day wet.

9. Do you have a favorite color? – yep, calico

Calico Cats and other Information

The behavior of a Calico Cat is no different to that of other cats. In other words, the genes that give this cat her calico coat do not effect her character. That, in any event, is my considered view.

I guess we all know that a Calico cat is not a breed of cat but a description of the coat color. "Calico" is a North American term. In the UK the Calico cat is called "Tortoiseshell and White".

As the UK name suggests the coat is a mixture of tortoiseshell fur (black and orange) and white. The white is caused by the white spotting gene or Piebald gene. This gene causes the mitted or gloved cats (Snowshoe and some Ragdolls) and the van cats (Turkish Van).


We also know that due to genetics, Calico cats are virtually always female. This is because the gene that determines red (orange) coloration is carried on the X chromosome and a cat has to be XX (female) for the orange gene to take effect (I think that's correct - tell me if I am wrong please).


Japanese people like the Calico color. This is shown in their love of Bicolor and Calico Japanese Bobtail cats. They call this color pattern mike-cats.


The genetics at work are all concerned with the coat color. As far as I can see there is no further effect (beyond coat color) that determines the character of the cat. I conclude that Calico cats have no specific character associated with the coat color.


The association between the color of the fur and character of the cat is similar to our perception that red-headed people (and particularly females) have a specific and associated character e.g. fiery and volatile. This is due to their "difference" (in the way they look). People tend to be frightened of different people and attack them. They do this by making slightly derogatory remarks (this is my theory, anyway). It is untrue that red-headed people are generally fiery. If they are sometimes like that, perhaps they are being irritated by being thought of as being fiery by other people! One point though does come to mind about the behavior of a calico cat. We know that females of the species act differently to the male. As calico cats are nearly always female it could be argued that their behavior is different to the average. Just a thought.

There is a tendency then for humans to assign a character to an appearance. This is the same for people's perception of cats generally. Some people hate cats because they think they "sneer" at them when it is in fact the person's own prejudice coloring the perception. The same distorted perception is found with black cats. They were thought of as witch's cats and there are still numerous superstitions surrounding black cats (good luck, bad luck you name it).

Vacation time !

Oh no in a couple of days meowmy and dad are going on vacation -
leaving the older adult children to watch over us and the house. I dont know if this will be good or bad, Im suspecting bad, cause they sleep late so we wont get our feeding times as normal.
Plus I hope they dont mind cleaning the litter box.
Mom is worried, but if all goes as the jobs have been given it should be OK, paws crossed please ! ANd they better not forget to give us our daily dose of kitty love, we will miss our meowmy, this is the first time shes been away from us since we were 12 weeks old. Meow! *sniffles*

Im cat of the day !!

Today when meowmy woke up she logged on to Catster at 6:00 AM.
Now this is really not normal for her but something said.. to check her mail. Well low and behold she spotted my face on Cat of the Day!
Im cat of the day September 2nd 2009. Thank you catster (and the secret team) who put me up for this. Also.... someone deposited 25 zealies in my account. Whoever it was knew I was zealie challenged and was soooooooooooooooo nice to do this. (I have an inkling of who this might have been and I will have to confront them later).
Hehehhehe I am so happy today, the weather is just purrfect
my tummy is full and Im a burst of energy.
It feels like fall already so Im starting to use moms laptop as my bed, I just love the warmth it puts out so its like my secret little electric blankie.

We would like to make a toast to mom and dad on their 30th wedding anniversary today 9-1-2009.
Who knew on their 30th that they would have such two wonderful pets as us! Look we can talk, read and have our own pages on Catster!!!

How did you come about your name (Catster Diary Forum)

My name Kiddlyn's Kyande Kisu - And I am a Japanese Bobtail.
Kiddlyn was the breeders cattery name, Kyande, means candy in Japanese and my momcats name was Kandi, Kisu means Kiss in Japanese, Put them together and you get a CANDY KISS ! I was born on Halloween 2007 so meowmy took Kyande Kisu and made me a sweet treat just fur her.
The reason for all the "K's" is because it was a favorite of the breeder and wanted to continue tradition of the Kiddlyn cattery.

Pay it forward

Since I have been on Catster I have met many wonderful people.
People with kind hearts and a beautiful soul.
Loving animals and doing all kinds of good deeds. Not to long ago
someone whom I barely know paid for a one years subscription for me to a breed magazine out of the kindness of their heart, before that I had a catster member show up at a cat show and bring me real presents for being cat of the day! *sniff sniff * (sorry but I get teary eyed)
Today I have the opportunity of paying that good deed forward to a very dear catster friend of mine.
