We just learned that a very sweet furiend named Sammie went to the Bridge yesterday. We are deeply shocked and saddened over this news. Sammie and his furmily have been so kind to us since we joined Catster and my furmily and I can't begin to tell them how much they meant and still mean to us. Sammie, we will look to the heavens tonight to see your new star shining brightly. We will furever remember and love you! My furmily and I send your grieving pawrents our deepest sympathy. You will live furever in their hearts. You made many special memories for them.

Angel Wanda's sweet brofur Edward lost his earthly battle with FIP on August 12th, after a valiant and brave fight of 10 weeks. Our furmily is deeply saddened by this but we know that sweet Edward is no longer suffering and is with his angel furmily at the Bridge. Godspeed and much love to Edward. We send our love and deepest sympathy to his grieving earth furmily.

May we all be like Ugly.

From my meowmy ~ This story really touched my heart. I hope you will learn that you cannot go only by outside appearances. See the love that Ugly had inside him... not what his outer being stated. I hope that I will meet Ugly across that "Rainbow Bridge". He certainly has a piece of my heart. I do not know the original author. Jo Ann

Everyone in the apartment complex I lived in knew who Ugly was. Ugly was the resident tomcat. Ugly loved three things in this world: fighting, eating garbage, Oh, and shall we say, love.

The combination of these things combined with a life spent outside had their effect on Ugly. To start with, he had only one eye, and where the other should have been was a gaping hole. He was also missing his ear on the same side, his left foot appeared to have been badly broken at one time, and had healed at an unnatural angle, making him look like he was always turning the corner.

His tail had long ago been lost, leaving only the smallest stub, which he would constantly jerk and twitch. Ugly would have been a dark gray tabby striped-type, except for the sores covering his head, neck, even his shoulders with thick, yellowing scabs. Every time someone saw Ugly there was the same reaction.

"That's one UGLY cat!!"

All the children were warned not to touch him, the adults threw rocks at him, hosed him down, squirted him when he tried to come in their homes, or shut his paws in the door when he would not leave.

Ugly always had the same reaction. If you turned the hose on him, he would stand there, getting soaked until you gave up and quit. If you threw things at him, he would curl his lanky body around feet in forgiveness.

Whenever he spied children, he would come running meowing frantically and bump his head against their hands, begging for their love. If ever someone picked him up he would immediately begin suckling on your shirt, earrings, whatever he could find.

One day Ugly shared his love with the neighbors huskies. They did not respond kindly, and Ugly was badly mauled. From my apartment I could hear his screams, and I tried to rush to his aid. By the time I got to where he was laying, it was apparent Ugly's sad life was almost at an end.

Ugly lay in a wet circle, his back legs and lower back twisted grossly out of shape, a gaping tear in the white strip of fur that ran down his front. As I picked him up and tried to carry him home I could hear him wheezing and gasping, and could feel him struggling. I must be hurting him terribly I thought. Then I felt a familiar tugging, sucking sensation on my ear-

Ugly, in so much pain, suffering and obviously dying was trying to suckle my ear. I pulled him closer to me, and he bumped the palm of my hand with his head, then he turned his one golden eye towards me, and I could hear the distinct sound of purring. Even in the greatest pain, that ugly battled-scarred cat was asking only for a little affection, perhaps some compassion.

At that moment I thought Ugly was the most beautiful, loving creature I had ever seen. Never once did he try to bite or scratch me, or even try to get away from me, or struggle in any way. Ugly just looked up at me completely trusting in me to relieve his pain.

Ugly died in my arms before I could get inside, but I sat and held him for a long time afterwards, thinking about how one scarred, deformed little stray could so alter my opinion about what it means to have true pureness of spirit, to love so totally and truly. Ugly taught me more about giving and compassion than a thousand books, lectures, or talk show specials ever could, and for that I will always be thankful.

He had been scarred on the outside, but I was scarred on the inside, and it was time for me to move on and learn to love truly and deeply. To give my total to those I cared for. Many people want to be richer, more successful, well liked, beautiful, but for me, I will always try to be Ugly.

Our furiend Tyler joined the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday.

Friday morning we sadly learned that our furiend Tyler had to go to the Bridge on Thursday evening. We are all in shock and just heartbroken since learning this very sad news. My furmily and I send Tyler and his grieving furmily our love and sympathy.

Tyler has always made us laugh. He was such a brave kitty and is one of the first kitties we loved from the get-go after we joined Catster. Tyler has faced his illness with such grace, dignity and humor throughout the whole time.

Tyler will always be among our list of special heroes! The Rainbow Bridge gained a very special angel, indeed.

On Friday, as Hooch was preparing to write his diary, we learned the sad, sad news about Tyler and our typist had to gather herself enough to help Hooch write his own diary.

This afternoon is the service for a dear furiend, Fela Kiti who made his journey to the Bridge. He will be dearly missed by so many. What a joy to have been a furiend. That will go on, just from his spot at the Bridge now. His service is 4 PM PST. Memorial Service for Fela Kiti

My pawrents will be celebrating my dad's mother's birthday at that time and we will not be present at sweet Fe's service but our hearts will be there with him and his furmily.

It is with a deeply saddened heart that I write to say my sweet furiend Fela crossed the Bridge today. Fe fought a very valiant battle against cancer and, sadly, lost. My heart and that of my whole family is breaking right now. Please send Fe's grieving family your love and pray that they will find the peace and comfort they need right now. It was a very unselfish decision to release Fe from the earthly battle. Know that we will love and remember you forever, Fe.

A long day for my meowmy.

My meowmy has been gone most of the day. She left, just after giving Hooch his insulin this morning, to be with my human brofur Jim who was having a FNA (fine needle aspiration) biopsy at the hospital. He was scheduled for 8:15 AM and that is Hooch's normal time to receive his insulin. So my dad went to pick up my brofur to take him to the hospital and my meowmy stayed behind to care for Hooch. She was afraid she would miss seeing my brofur before his biopsy... but hospitals being hospitals they were running behind and she got there before they took Jim back. The doctor talked to them about the major risks involved in these procedures. Those are bleeding, infection and collapsed lung.

After his procedure, he was taken to a room but only one of my pawrents could visit him and that was my meowmy. They had some heart to heart talks. He was feeling okay after the ordeal but told my meowmy that, even though they numbed him, it felt like the doctor reached in and pinched his lung and twisted it really hard... but he said it was not unbearable.. just very uncomfortable. They checked his blood pressure every half hour and then at noon, they x-rayed his chest again to be sure that his lung had not collapsed or started to do so and then he was released AFTER they found a doctor to read the x-ray. Again... hospitals. He will go for the results on the 22nd and will find out what and IF they will be able to do anything. He has lost a lot of weight and only weighs 136 pounds now. Meowmy says he is furry gaunt looking. So, please pray for Jim.

My meowmy did not check her email yesterday and we missed a couple of very important things.

We found out that Tyler was found to have two masses which were to be removed today. Tyler needs our love and support and prayers so, please pray for good news on Tyler. You can read his diary for more news.

Our new furiend Mr. Biggles did not receive good news. He has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We are praying that he can be kept comfortable and will have more years to enjoy his new family. Please pray for Mr. Biggles, too. He needs some major prayers.

Our furiend Tallulah got some bad news. She does have cancer and will need surgery. She will be going to a specialist on Wednesday. Please add Tallulah to your purr list.

The GOOD news is that Tony IS okay. He had a spell like Karisma after he vomited. Tony and Karisma should go to time out for scaring their meowmies half to death with their antics after throwing up. Don't you agree? BUT please know that we are so happy that Tony is okay.

My meowmy said we will all be posting the same diaries today.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there in Catsterland!

I would like to wish all the dads and meowmies acting as dads out there in Catsterland a very Happy Father's Day!

My dad and meowmy went out to breakfast for Father's Day. And guess what they saw when they were getting into the car? Well, a turtle had come to say Happy Father's Day to my dad. It was sitting on the mulch pile beside our driveway. My goofy meowmy first thought that my dad had bought a yard ornament and put it on the mulch pile to be funny. No, just a turtle stopping by with Father's Day greetings. My meowmy took a picture of it. We hope it turns out so we can add it to our page for all to see the nice turtle who came for a visit.

I would like to ask my furiends to remember my brofur Hooch tomorrow as he goes for treatment for his hyperT at T4Paws. We hope this can resolve this problem for Hooch and that he will begin to feel much better and his weight and issues can become normal again. I love my brofur, even though he picks on me sometimes.

Mercy and her wonderpur furmily sent me a healing power of the paw. They said, "Purrs purrs purrs for all of you! So much going on in your lives, on the fur side as well as human side. Sorry we have not been doing a very good job of keeping up with our friends lately. Love, Mercy and family"
