Well I was back at the vet yesterday and all went pretty well. I have gained back the weight I had lost-well all but a tenth of a pound, so no labs for now. They did kinda spoof me though because they came in the room with a towel and I have been burritoed before! Usually just for a B12 they leave me in the carrier, believe me that is best for everyone involved and I have a top load carrier so it is easier. The vet decided since I was back on the gaining side he would just pop the top and give me a quick shot and let me be on my way, I think he is afraid of me!
I noticed the huge birthday prezzie is free now, don't know for how long, maybe just for today, so everyone who wants to give out a free prezzie rush over to the gift shop! Let's all eat cake!
Thanks everyone for all of the purrs and crossed paws, you are the best! Love to you all!

I had to go to the vet today for my B12 shot and my weigh-in. I have been feeling pretty well, with only some minor allergy problems, but I have lost four tenths of a pound in just 19 days. The vet is concerned, my last blood test showed me to be borderline anemic and meowmy is afraid my IBD may be getting worse. Especially since I have been eating good.
As for the good news meowmy has orders from the vet to feed me as much boiled chicken breast as I will eat along with my regular canned food. I will be going back in two weeks to be re-weighed, (sooner if meowmy gets paranoid) if there is no improvement we will do another round of blood test.
Keep your paws crossed for me please.

Now let's all move on, we can't change the past but we sure can make today and the future better....hopefully our friends that have left will return...we will go & spread the love to our friends and make new freinds making them feel welcomed.
Remember we all make our own choices and we each can make this site better...we all just have to move on...
Way to go Norman.....high paws to you
We have been doing just that reaching out to our friends, leaving comments on their pictures, diaries and going to some of our groups to check in....it is hard at times for Mom because this is her busy time of the year with taking care of her clients pets....mostly kitties now hooray for Mom...but we do come, we want to be here for all of our friends, send them love and support....we are not going anywhere...
Life is too short to dwell on what we can't change (fleas) but we can change what we do here, be positive and make new friends....love each other and be kind...give support when needed...and have fun....this is our site and we make it what we want it...thanks again Norman!

It is tough to lose friends here, especially if you don't have any other connection to them. You never know what happened, did they get upset and leave, just grow tired of it, maybe they did not have enough purrsons to welcome them?
It is harder to find the new members than it used to be, the changes have a lot of us so frustrated we have have just given up looking around much.
The forum is a good place to find new purrsons posting, especially if they are in need of advice or help. I am going to make an effort to check it a little more often as well as the daily diary picks.
If everyone invested just a few more minutes a week, it would make a huge difference! I welcome anyone with any other suggestions to post them here.
I WANT MY CATSTER BACK!!!!!!!!!! Plus I am getting sick of seeing farmville on the screen all of the time, I have given up on the hope that one of the chickens will jump out so I can eat it. Normy hugs to all!

More of my friends have left Catster and this time it is not because of anything Catster did. It is because someone here was unkind to them. I know everyone here is worried about the future of Catster, it is not like it used to be here, some of the magic is gone, but it is not necessary or nice to take out your frustrations on other members. We have to stick together.
Please everyone try to be nice to each other, we can't afford to lose more friends here, they are our only reason for staying. I challenge you all to stop by one friends page today and leave a kind message or a comment on a picture or diary, let them know you treasure their friendship.
We are trying to ignore the stuff we are not happy with. We recently cancelled our newsletter subscription here, we no longer visit the "Catster" homepage, we stay within the safety of the community. We are hanging on to the good parts of Catster. There is still a lot to like here.
Besides it does no good to complain or leave comments on stories you don't like, it only adds "hits" to them which negative or not benefits them, best to just ignore them.

My sisfur Einstein, will be going to the bridge today about noon. She is worse and meowmy cannot let her suffer when she has no chance of getting better. Please send a few prayers our way, it is a very sad day at my house.

My sisfur Einstein is very sick, her bloodwork shows her to very anemic and she is not generating red blood cells. They feel like she may have cancer, although there are no visible lumps. We got some medicine today to try and help her, she also got fluids but it is not looking very good. The vet said her prognosis for improvement is very slim. She is not eating or drinking much on her own. Please purr for her, she needs purrs badly. If she does not improve by next week she will most likely be joining our other angels at the bridge.

I got a package from Alfie today! I love getting packages, meowmy had to unseal it but I got my stuff out all by myself! It was catnip chicken toys, made especially for me! They are so cool! Meowmy tried to play with them with me but I wouldn't let her have them. Alfie, thank you so much, you are always looking out after me. I have had a lot of bad days in the last few weeks, am feeling better now, it makes meowmy happy to see me excited and I sure was today. I was a little peeved at her because she laughed at me when I bathed my chickens, she says I am treating them more like babies than toys. Doesn't she know they are special? I can't demolish them like I do other toys! I want to keep them furever!

Per Iams it was a Product Pull. This is a scary revelation, I erroneously thought all pet food recalls were public, they are not! If any of you eat this, please check your labels and share this info with your friends too if you want.
What is a product pull?
The recall notice posted on the Price Chopper website, then promptly removed was "posted erroneously" according to a Iams Customer Service Representative. The notice that three varieties of Iams pet food tested with "elevated aflatoxin levels" wasn't meant for public notice. It was a product pull, not a recall. Thanks to Price Chopper for doing right by petsumers or we wouldn't have even known about this.
For those new to this website (and the truth about pet food), there is something you should be aware of. It is known in the industry as a 'product pull'. We call it a silent recall. A product pull/silent recall is when a pet food manufacturer discovers a problem with a food - which could be serious or could be something insignificant - and in turn the pet food manufacturer alerts retail outlets to 'pull' the product from store shelves and return to the manufacturer.
Iams Customer Service told me this was a "product pull". She stated "a small number of bags did not meet our specifications". "This was not a consumer recall". She also stated that Price Chopper "posted erroneously" the Iams notice to remove some pet foods from store shelves.
The same product pull notice "might have been sent to a couple of other stores" - but we don't know who those other stores are.
But we do know (thanks to Price Chopper) that these three foods tested with "elevated aflatoxin levels"...

Aflatoxin are "commonly found in corn, peanuts, cottonseed, milk, and tree nuts. After ingestion, aflatoxins are absorbed and carried to the liver via the circulatory system. They are then converted by the liver into toxic reactive epoxides which bind covalently to intracellular macromolecules such as DNA, RNA and protein enzymes, resulting in damage to liver cells. In addition to their hepatotoxic properties, aflatoxins are also carcinogenic. Mycotoxin contamination in pet food poses a serious health threat to pets."
From "Mycotoxins and the pet food industry: Toxicological evidence and risk assessment" by Herman J. Boermans and Maxwell C.K. Leung.
Thank you to Price Choppers for doing the right thing and posting the notice that these pet foods contained elevated aflatoxin levels! You bothered to warn consumers that had already purchased these pet foods. That shows real concern and integrity in my book.
Iams, I would love to hear from you (I'm sure my readers would too) on just exactly what the 'elevated levels of aflatoxin' were. I will be glad to share your side of the story with everyone.
Two years ago, thousands of pet owners wrote and called their pet food companies asking to put an end to Silent Recalls. We asked all pet food manufacturers to participate in a program called Pet Food Recall First Alert; which meant the pet food manufacturer would agree to notify customers of any product pull or concern with a pet food. The following companies agreed...
Nature's Logic Pet Food
Mulligan Stew Pet Food
The Honest Kitchen Pet Food
Wysong Pet Food
Complete Natural Nutrition
Solid Gold Pet Food
Dogswell Pet Food
Dr. Harvey's Pet Food
Fromm Family Pet Foods
Redbarn Premium Pet Products
Kumpi Pet Foods
Raw Health Pet Food
Champion Pet Foods (Acana and Orijen)
Thank you to the above companies. Petsumers deserve to know if a pet food tests for elevated aflatoxin levels and any other possible health risk.
Silent recalls or product pulls are NOT good for anyone. Please - all pet food manufacturers - just stop for a moment and think about the pets and the families of those pets that might already be eating foods that you quietly remove from store shelves. Don't those pets and those families deserve to know what is going on?
