queen cat Matahari taken to the vet.(Thursday 7-6-2012).

Took matahari to "Phoenix Veterinary Speciality" clinic run by Dr Shivani.Tandel , situated walking distance from my residence.Seems the injury was acquired a few days ago and shows the pain that cats can overcome.Cat matahari was absolutely normal in her behaviour , regularly climbing the gallery ledge, her favourite viewing spot five floors from ground level! Hence i didn't suspect that she was seriously injured and it perplexes me at the manner in which she climbs the ledge as well as walks normally, without any limp despite a serious injury according to human pain threshold..Dr Shivani gave her a pain-killer and a anti-tetanus injection also prescribing some oral tablets.Cat matahari is doing fine, her behaviour as normal as before i took her to the vet, now much relaxed.Dr Shivani.Tandel has treated matahari before and is a "Avian Specialist" with bird-owners from all over Mumbai coming to her clinic for advice and treatment.She successfully treated matahari once before when she developed an abscess on her mouth.Everything is normal now and the wound would take a few days to heal.

Cats can take great physical pain and not show it:- Cat Matahari receives serious injury under her- right-armpit.(Wed 6-6-2012)

Cat Matahari is seriously injured under the right arm-pit.Tomcat matata must have clawed her and hence punctured a deep hole into her skin.I noticed it today evening(Wednesday 6-6-2012[1700hrs]).Deep hole, akin to a "BULLET PENETRATION" but not much bleeding.Just a bit of puss oozing.Cats can take great pain and i realized this today for otherwise she is absolutely normal.I would have never noticed this injury, just a co-incident that i happened to trim her fur.She only yelps when touched in that spot and has her normal appetite for food.Remember, cats too have compatibility problems and although matata wants to mate with her she repulses him.This could have led to a scuffle in which she got injured.Hope she uses her 9 lives and survives this terrible injury.To me, my pets are my "Non-Human Children" and if i lose matahari, a family member would be lost.Hope the injury is not very severe and she does recover

Queen cat Matahari misses her care-taker Sabina.Dias.(Monday- 4-6-2012)

My house-keeper Sabina.Dias has taken a short vacation to her ancestral village of Goa, a famous holiday resort in India.Both my cats Matahari and Matata as also Alexandrine parakeet "Mittoo" have been fed and cared by her.I call them my "NON-HUMAN CHILDREN" and since Sabina herself is also a spinster she cares for my pets like her own children.On Sunday(3-6-2012) Sabina left for Goa and all my pets felt her absence, most importantly matahari.She would continuously sleep in the kitchen, even in the night, something she has never done before as if awaiting the arrival of Sabina to feed her. Its now my responsibility to care for my pets, absolutely normal in their food habits.Alexandrine Parakeet "Mittoo" shouts a bit more than normal since the departure of Sabina, the lady who has been cleaning and feeding 'Mittoo" since the last eight years, same for cats matahari and matata.This proves the attachment that pets have for their human care-takers.

matahari given a "Half Shampoo Bathe".(Wednesday 23-5-2012)

As matahari has a tendency to lick and bite her rump decided to give her a half bathe with anti-tick shampoo.After the bathe everything went well and Amata didn't attack her as was the norm when both were given a full body bathe.

Queen cat Matahari in "HEAT".Strange biological changes when- in heat.(Tuesday 15-5-2012)

Since yesterday Queen cat matahari has been displaying signs of being on 'HEAT", undergoing her typical 'HEAT PERSONALITY DISPLAY".I have observed a strange change in her metabolism when in heat, the fact that she passes :Loose Motions" when in heat.This has happened on numerous occasions and i didn't document it as i initially didn't notice the co-incidence.Since kitten-hood matahari has had a weak digestive system, passing "Loose motions" frequently although perfectly healthy and normal in food eating habits.As she aged , her "Loose Motion" frequency stopped and she began passing regular normal stool.It was in recent years that i observed a corelation between her "Loose Motions" and "Heat" period.

Queen cat Matahari given "1/@ Bathe" with "Bay-o-Pet"- anti-flea shampoo.(Sunday 13-5-2012)

After giving tomcat matata a "1/2 Bathe" i next gave Matahari a bathe in the same manner.There were no flea symptoms but she was scratching her hind thigh and hence gave her a bathe below the chest with the shampoo. After the bathe on releasing her the reaction of tomcat matata towards her was normal, never aggressive.I have finally discovered a safe way of bathing both my cats without them fighting after the bathe, their normal "CAT-FIGHTS" that previously lasted almost a week, upsetting the entire house-holds functioning.NEVER BATHE THE CATS HEAD WITH SHAMPOO WHEN THERE ARE 2 CATS IN THE HOUSE.

Queen cat Matahari loves "HOUDINI CAT ACTS", today almost- getting seriously injured.(Friday 26-4-2012)

Readers familiar with matahari's diaries must have read the numerous times this cat has performed a "Houdini act' on us, its human care-takers.Queen cat matahari loves getting into enclosed spaces and hiding quietly, this happening numerous times.Once we even searched the entire building compound thinking that she had slipped out of the house only to later find her locked in a cupboard.This was the most frightening 'Houdini act of my cat but today she almost got herself severely injured.
In the morning i had opened my drawer shelf and had removed it from the cupboard for cleaning.This cupboard contains numerous drawers, each containing different items and at present my personal clothing.Later i put the drawer on its rack and on closing it found a bit of resistance.On removing the drawer my housekeeper Sabina suddenly reminded me that cat matahari was not to be seen in the house.Quickly i looked into the drawer opening and to my utter disbelief the cat was quietly crouched against the clothing lying on the cupboard shelf below.She had gone into the opening when i had removed the drawer making herself comfortable on the clothes, also camouflaging herself, hence i didn't notice her presence in the drawer opening while re-inserting the drawer.It was Sabina's presence of mind that saved cat Matahari from severe injury for she could have got crushed when i closed the drawer shelf.This is another strange behaviour of queen cat matahari that i have never observed in my previous cat trixie nor in matahari's kitten matata.Matata does inspect drawer openings but he comes out and never tries to conceal himself in the drawer unlike his dam matahari.No wonder the proverb, "CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT". Today cat matahari really missed being severely injured due to her curious nature of inspecting closed spaces and trying to hide or conceal herself in the same.

Matahari's grotesque unique posturing frightens the- house.(Friday 27-4-2012)

A week ago Matahari chose a bizarre place in the house for resting, something she never did in her entire lifespan in my house.She started resting and sleeping at the entrance door of my bedroom, akin to a guard, refusing to budge from the place.She literally blocked the entrance to my bedroom squatting right at the entrance and we had to maneuver around her to get in and out of the bedroom.I was severely sick from a chronic cough that had afflicted me since a decade and had given me a cancer scare.I had initially neglected this chronic cough and cold disease as an allergy but finally decided to get a "THROAT TEST" done to banish any doubts of cancer. My maternal uncle had succumbed to lung cancer and my mother to breast cancer,besides, i had lost two of my classmates to lung cancer , all happening in the 21st century in quick succession.Matahari's unique posturing psychologically scared me akin to the famous American hospital cat "OSCAR".Did i have signs of a cancer tumor in my throat that my cat matahari had sensed, hence always sleeping at my bedroom entrance? Finally after doing the required "Barium Throat test" was relieved to find out that i was normal and the cough and cold syndrome had no connection to any cancerous tumor. Matahari still has the habit of sleeping at the same spot, the bedroom entrance door.

QUEEN CAT MATAHARI GETS A PERMANENT SCAR ON HER NOSE.CAUSE:- CATFIGHT WITH MATATA((Saturday 31-3-2012))

READ ABOUT THE STRANGE BIZARRE BEHAVIOUR OF TOMCAT MATATA TOWARDS HIS DAM MATAHARI AFTER BEING GIVEN A WATER BATHE ON SUNDAY(18-3-2012).I have documented the entire weeks nightmare in Matata's diary book.
The "CATFIGHTS" between these two happy cats resulted in a deep gash on matahari's nose delivered by tomcat matata on sunday(18-3-2012) the first day that these fights began and continued for 5 days until Friday(16-3-2012).
Queen cat matahari now has a permanent dark mark on the left side of her nose, luckily it didn't turn septic,normally getting infected with maggots if untreated.The same day matata also scratched me when i went in-between these two warring cats to separate them.It was then that i realized a cats feroscious power of its claws which otherwise seem harmless.Akin to matahari's deep nose scratch the cut on my right thumb was deep and resulted in prolific bleeding.
It took a week for tomcat matata to regain his normal temperament, the same confusing me as today he is absolutely normal and playfully co-existing with his dam matahari.

Queen cat Matahari takes her quarterly "PLOZIN" deworming- tablet.(Wednesday 14-3-2012)

Matahari was given half a tablet of "PLOZIN", mixed in her food.She is the definition of the word "Gluttony",excessively consuming her food.She has put on excessive weight and as the "alpha-Female" eats her food first, tomcat matata allowing her to eat maximum.We always feed both the cats in the same plate but after some time matahari has to be shooed away from her the plate to enable matata to have his daily meal quota.Matahari is the definition of the Traditional persian breed cat in her habits, absolutely aloof and alone, sleeping throughout the day and night and only interacting with her human companions at the time of her food timings.We don't feel the presence of a cat in the house with matahari, absolutely quiet and peaceful.She loves being petted and eating to the maximum when served her meals, the ideal fat cat life of which cats are the envy.As for tomcat matata, he is the opposite of her in character, very hyperactive , has to be pampered and fed like a baby by his care-taker Sabina.Dias.
