Our Latest Mouse

‘Twas the night after Easter
And all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Except for a MOUSE!

Yep, we did it again! Brought Mommy a mouse. It was a small one, but it was slippery. We worked hard for a long time while Mom slept. When we were ready to let her play with it, we knocked over a big metal, folded up camp cot. That made a big boom. So, Mom got up to see what was going on and saw us run out of the spare bedroom. She went in and saw what we had knocked over and said, “Well at least you guys are alright!” Then she went to the bathroom. She didn’t even see the mouse we worked so hard to bring her. So, we brought it into her bedroom for her. When she came back to bed she was about to shut off the light when she saw us both looking at something in her closet. She came to see what was going on and finally spotted our mouse! She put on shoes, went and got a little mouse sized box and came to play mouse with us. The little mouse went behind all kinds of junk, so Mom was busy moving stuff out of the way, including us. Mom put down the box and expected she would have to find a way to guide the mouse into it, but the mouse was smart and went right in by itself. Then Mom went outside in her nightgown and released the mouse in the yard. At 4am, she didn’t think the neighbors would see her, plus it was dark outside. Then she came back in and gave us some Fancy Feast. She tried to go back to sleep but we were too excited and wouldn’t let her. So, she got up and gave us more Fancy Feast at 7:30am.

The Food Bowl Incident

I know Mom is short on sleep ... but, guess what she just did! I was hungry after a morning of bird watching and so I told her so by going to my nearly empty food bowl. So she comes over to it and pours DOG FOOD in it! Can you believe it? DOG FOOD! I gave her my miffed look and she laughed, picked up my bowl and poured all of it into the dog food bowls, including a bit of cat food. Then she got me the proper food. I noticed she didn't wash my bowl! She should have disinfected it after that.

Spring, almost..

Yesterday, I went for a super long leash walk. I could get around without stepping in snow, and Mom was not in a rush as she had a day off work. Today, well, it snowed over night. Then, Mom pinched my whisker against the edge of my food bowl with a fork. She said she was sorry but I should give her a chance to put the food in the bowl before going after it. Then, when I went for today's leash walk, I had to step carefully due to the fresh snow. This time, Mom was in a rush and started throwing snow at me to try and make me come back in the house. Well, she got me right in the nose with a handful of snow. She said she was very sorry but I didn't let it bother me and continued to eat dry grass. She was surprised that I would put up with a face full of snow yet not dare put one toe in it.

Time for Mom to go to work.

Mom says she cannot understand it, but I know exactly when she has to go to work. Five minutes before that, I jump on her lap and am super cute. Then I settle in for a power nap. Only she has to get up right away and go! Then I act all miffed that I was that cute for nothing. Only to be disturbed and pushed off of her lap.

Lap Cat

Mom has noticed that since her hospital stay I have spent a lot of time on her lap. She even said I was "clingy"! Last night, I jumped on her lap while she settled to watch "Frasier". She kept going "ouch, ouch!" while I tried to soften her up. Well, I just got her the way I like her and settled down when she snipped a few of my claws! All that time she had the claw trimmers hidden in her hand. Oh well, I was too comfortable to move so I stayed put.

Mom is home again.

Almost two weeks ago, in the middle of the night, Mom left us. She didn’t come back for 7 whole days and nights. Strange people came to our house once a day to fill our bowls, empty our litter box and let the dogs in for their food. I was going to go check things out and get my treat, but Lucky said, “NO! Don’t go out there!” So I didn’t. After the strange people were gone, I did go out and eat my Fancy Feast treat. Then, since Lucky still wouldn’t come out, I ate hers too. (I gained a bit of weight.) When Mom came home, she wasn’t too lively but she did give us a big hello. It was nice to have everything back to normal. And, for quite a few days, she didn’t waste time walking the dogs and spent all of her time in the house with us.
Just when Lucky and I were getting used to things being normal, a horrible noise startled us awake this morning. I was on top of Mom and leapt out of bed. Lucky was in her secret spot and came running to find me. We both stared at the kitchen with our fur all fluffed up. Mom jumped too when the big noise happened. Then she laughed at us. She said, “Don’t worry it. It is the new coffee machine that has a timer and grinds coffee beans before brewing the coffee. All automatic.”
We were almost too scared to come in the kitchen for our Fancy Feast morning treat. Almost.

Phew, We've been busy!

We only had a chance to respond to one tagging. After that, we got busy with the video vault in one club and cartooning in another club and the photo contest. Plus Mom has been working lots of overtime.
I'm writing right now, because, there is a new creature in the house. Us kitties are pretty smart, so we know it is electronic and not alive. But it acts alive! What it is, is a robot. I know how much most of you kitties like vacuums. Well this one is a robot vacuum!!!! How terrible is that? It is out of control. It goes wherever it wants to without Mom running it. It is very strange. It isn't as loud as the regular vacuum. But we still keep a close eye on it. Considering we are partially feral, we aren't too scared of it.

I've Been Tagged!

Another fun tag game! This time I have to pick 10 fellow Catsters and say a nice thing about them and the cat that tagged me. Then, send pmail or rosette to the kitties that I have tagged! This is so much fun guys!

I was tagged by KC Sunshine BOY!
KC seems to think Lucky and I are boys. Maybe because I teased her and called her a boy a while back. Anyhow, we are all girls, including her.
KC Sunshine Girl is a cool kitty. She has livened up Catsters a lot and we love her.

My tag list ....

Rosie ... The wonderful kitty that gave birth to 4 wonderful kittens after finding herself the best home ever!

Mr. D ... The kitty that got Mom involved with Catsters in the first place and is creating those cool cartoons.

Toes ... A good buddy of ours who is keeping us posted on Puffin and her kittens.

Maneki ... The kitty who is recovering from an awful dog attack.

KC ... Who is a little, furry, Florence Nightingale.

Snowie ... has one of the neatest faces I’ve ever seen.

Athena ... who has cool pink claws and can boogie even without a boogie mat.

Robert Redcat ... Every bit as handsome as Redford and a good friend.

Bella ... A very sweet Bengal whom I am teaching how to catch mice.

Arwen ... Just look at her markings! What a gorgeous girl. She has been very nice to me.

I am so pleased. Rosie, who just had 4 beautiful kittens, named one of them after me and Scottie. Scottie Squirrel is kind of like my nephew. You can see him on my page. Isn't he precious!

Another Big Day for us!

Mom was at a pet store today, looking for a dog poop scooper. The old one broke. Probably because of Lobo's giant sized poops. While there, she saw the cat tunnels were on sale so she bought us one!!! We played with it right away. Then, just now, we caught another mouse!!! Mom was on the phone, yet again, and just happened to be talking about the one we caught last week. Talk about a coincidence. She was mid sentence, describing our last week mouse, when I dropped this new one on the floor right beside her. She said to the person on the phone, "They got another one! I gotta go!" Then she said to me, "I'm not going to bother with the camera if you are going to bring me one every week." So, she petted me, captured the mouse and released it. It was a tiny one and didn't run around much for me so I was already kind of bored with it. When Mom released it, it didn't go right away. She thought maybe it was hurt. But it wasn't. It was smart. When it was sure it was free, it took off like a race horse!
I'm right back in the cat run now with Lucky, waiting for that mouse's little friends.
